I was wondering if people could share their experiences? I *think* I read that this counter service restaurant IS now on the dining plan, but I've also read that it's not! What's the true story? Also - if you've eaten there on the plan, are there a variety of desserts/beverages allowed? I'm wondering if we should give it a try, or go back to Wolfgang Puck Express instead. I'm not a fan of Earl of Sandwich due to the lack of beverage/dessert options. Thanks for your help! :)

Yes they do accept the dining plan.

The problem with using the dining plan at DTD is that almost all of the restaurants are operated by third parties (not Disney), and they tend to do things like offer only fountain beverages on the plans.

Thank you! Do you happen to know if the Baby Cakes desserts are allowed as dessert on the dining plan? I don't think I'd want to bring my family there, if these desserts aren't included!! ;)

I read on another board that you CAN get Baby Cakes desserts when you order your entree at Pollo Campero. I think it's definitely worth checking out!

Pollo Campero is great. It is fried or grilled chicken with a Latin-American flare. They have a salsa bar, corn tortilla's, and offer great sides like plantains, yucca fries, and the drinks are self refillable in the dining section.

I've never had dessert there, but if you can a dessert from Babycakes that would be great. We are going in September and we are bring our nanny who has a gluten allergy and she is so excited about Babycakes.

According to reports, snack credits may also be used at Babycakes. I do not know if they will accept a snack credit for all items though.

Thanks again for the info. We usually try to eat at least one meal in Downtown Disney (usually Wolfgang Puck Cafe or Express), so I'm excited to have another option.

Our Ratings of Pollo Campero: (4/7/2011)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: Polo Campero is in the previous McDonald's food court
in Downtown Disney. It is basically fast food. In my opinion,
it is highly overpriced mediocre dry chicken. From others who
have eaten there, they have said their meals were not up to
the quality or taste of Chick-Fil-A. They have a long way
to go to bring up the quality to acceptable standards.

Babycakes I'm told does accept dining plan snack credits. I would doubt though that you could get your dessert option for a CS meal at Pollo Campera from Babycakes. They are separate companies even though they are both situated in the same building. I believe the re-embursement to the restaurant from Disney for the CS credit requires that the different allotments are rung up on a single receipt and I doubt that PC can ring up BC items. The two companies would need to figure out an equitable split of the re-embursement for the dining plan re-embursement. It just seems like it's probably more trouble than its worth for the two companies. It would certainly be worth phoning one or the other of the companies to find out for sure but I wouldn't count on being able to get food from both places using a single CS credit.

Your logic totally makes sense to me. It does seem like it would be a big hassle for them. However, here is a link to where I read that you can get the babycakes for dessert. I hope I'm allowed to post a link here? :confused3 http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2011/...-chef-hunnel-named-james-beard-semi-finalist/ I hope it's true! :thumbsup2

Sweet! It does say that. It looks like it was worthwhile for the two companies to come to an agreement on the split. YAY!!
And here’s another fantastic option – if you purchase a Quick Service meal with your DDP at Pollo Campero or Fresh-A-Peel – a BabyCakes NYC bakery item can be redeemed for your quick service dessert!

I'm not actually sure why I'm so happy about this since I don't use dining plans any longer and I rarely go to DTD but I am. LOL
