We are heading there in a few weeks :cool1:

If we are allowed to request a Savannah, which one do you think:

do you like the best overall
-is the nicest to look at
-tends to have the most animals
-is away from the construction

Please base this on NON-concierge levels (though I'm sure the savannahs are the same)-we are booked for standard savannah. We don't mind how far away a location is from buses or restaurants-we enjoy walking so distance isnt an issue.

TIA!

Feel free to recommend specific trails, floors, rooms, include pics of views, and/or any additional comments in your posts-this is our first trip to AKL and not sure when we can afford to go again so I want the coolest room!!

If we are not allowed to choose when we get there, it's no biggie. I just figured it's value season, maybe won't be as crowded.

I voted for Uzima. I haven't stayed Sunset, but have stayed Arusha and Uzima. I ended up liking Uzima better which surprised me. I felt Arusha was too closed in, and I could hear people talking by the Rock. On Uzima, it was quiet and peaceful, and we had many more cattle outside our room.

I just booked and was given Arusha without asking. I also asked for a Standard View. We don't care if we don't get to see the animals.

Did they tell you over the phone which savannah they are giving you?

We really enjoyed staying on the Uzima Savannah. There were always animals around and it was very quiet and peaceful. No detection of construction whatsoever. I especially loved watching the giraffes.

I chose the Arusha Savanna. Unless they've moved the animals around since we were there a couple of years ago the Arusha Savanna is the only one where you can see both giraffes and zebras. Apparently the Anatole cattle and the zebras don't get along, so they have to keep them separated. I enjoy seeing the zebras (I'm from Texas and can see cattle everyday).

My poll vote didn't show up because...I guess I didn't vote...LOL. I guess I don't know how to do that. I just typed a reply.

It's true that on Arusha is the only place you could see the zebras which were nice, but I just didn't like seeing people, seeing another building, hearing the "noise" from the hotel. We didn't have that on Uzima and there were many more giraffes on Uzima.

I wouldn't request Sunset...I think it's small and you will be looking at construction.

Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2 I definately want to avoid the construction.

We just returned from AKV, and I had requested either Arusha or Uzima savannas, but we were located on the Sunset Savanna (I was disappointed at first, but it was fine). We had Zebras, giraffe, ostriches, bongos, and a crowned crane--very fun to watch the zebras chase the ostriches! We also had a view of the Kidani construction. I thought I would hate that, but it really didn't bother us. We never heard noise in our room (although the noise was quite loud on the balcony).

I would say definately ask for the Zebra trail. You should get a room overlooking Arusha or Uzima (we got Uzima, 4th floor). It had a great view.

We always stay on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail--plenty of animals and great view. The the pool and restaurants are located on this side of the lodge.

I didn't vote. This last trip, we faced the little corner of savannah between the uzima and arusha savannahs, and saw tons of animal activity. We also could see the MK and the Epcot fireworks over the treetops at night. It wasn't quite as pretty a savannah view as when we faced the arusha savannah, but I think that ultimately we liked it even better - so quiet and peaceful!

Just before Christmas, we were on the Zebra Trail 5th floor in a 1 Bedroom Villa. I think we were on the Uzima savanna with a view of both the sunrise and the sunset, as well as Mt. Everest over at the Animal Kingdom. (This was a corner room so that is how we got both the sunrise and the sunset.) It was fantastic! There were giraffes, zebras, Thompson gazelles, and various other animals.

Ooh I didn't think about a room with a view of DAK!!

Do all rooms on the Zebra Trail have a view of DAK? We are staying in a standard-sized savannah room.

Does anyone know what savanna the vacation club villas look over?
I'm not sure they took over an entire savanna... but I've only stayed in DVC rooms on the 5th floor. One was a studio with an Arusha savanna view, the other was the 1 bedroom Uzima view that I described.

No, not all rooms have that view. The Zebra Trail is a long one... you would have to request that view since it is one of the hallways that branch off.
