We also get Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. We don't get MLK, presidents or columbus day, but I'd rather have them around the holidays. I like our holiday schedule.

I get all of the ones on the poll, plus Columbus Day. We also get AT LEAST a half day off for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve (depending on the day of the week. Example, we got 1/2 day Friday this year, but Christmas Eve was Saturday. We also got the Monday after Christmas and the Monday after New Years.

DaisyDuck123- I work in a private school and they very generous to us as far as this. However my wage is below average but the paid holidays and vacations during the year off set it! We also start a week later then public school and end around June 9th while public school gets out June 23rd.

The hospital recognizes six holidays, which doesn't mean that we get them off, or that we get any type of comp pay or recognition when we work them. Ours are NYD, Christmas, Labor day, Memorial day, July 4, and Thanksgiving. Before our practice (I am a doctor) was affiliated with the hospital, we actually never closed for Labor day or Memorial day. Traditionally, we worked until finished seeing patients on Christmas eve and the day after Thanksgiving, which is the same as we do on Saturdays. Patients aren't supposed to be seen for routine things, like immunizations and Paps, or long standing, non-acute, non-life-threatening conditions. So, sometimes, like in the summer, we get out at 10:30 am, sometimes, like now, we get out at 3pm without any break for lunch. Last July 4, half the staff had Friday off and half had Monday off, when July 4 was on Sunday. So, the office didn't close at all, and the doctor on call (yours truly), didn't take either day off, and worked Saturday. This was because, actually, I had the board exam the next Friday, and needed to be out of the office then, and didn't want to take the day off Monday, because I was going to be out later in the week.

OK..that totally explains it. Thanks! :goodvibes

None. :( That's one of the drawbacks to being a substitute teacher. We get the holidays off but with no pay.

My DH gets a bunch off so I marked for him! :teeth:

My DH gets them all off with pay, tho except for MLK and Columbus Day.

Classroom teachers do not get these paid holidays either.
At least here in Maryland.

We only get paid for the days that we are in school. (180 kid days & 10 or so teacher workdays).

In addition to most of the holidays listed, I also get the Monday after Easter and Election Day. Sometimes we get the Friday before Memorial Day. I am also off between Christmas and New Year's. This year I worked a 1/2 day on December 23rd and went back to work on January 3rd. I am not a teacher.

I'm in Massachusetts and we have Patriot's Day (also known as Marathon Monday) off. We also get a second day at Christmas off.

I"m a federal governement (Department of Defense) employee so I get all of them.

I get off all of the days that you listed (except for Good Friday) plus Lincoln's actual birthday, President's Day and Election Day (State and Federal only) Plus I get three personal days, 17 vacation days and 12 sick days per year. Yes I work for the government! :rotfl2:

I work for the state. We get all of the above except Good Friday. WE also get Columbus Day and Lee-Jackson Day.

I get New years, MLK, Memorial day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Vetern's day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas and the day after. We also get 11 sick days a year and 11 vacaction days until I have been there for two years which is in a few months then I'll get 16 vacation days. Then when I hit four years I get 21 vacation days.

I'm a cook in an elementary school. We only get paid for Christmas and Thanksgiving, but we're off for each holiday listed, plus.

New Years Day
Memorial Day
4th of July
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day

Man I need to find a new job! Reading what other people wrote is making me really jealous!
I only get Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, and I think Labor Day

All ten official Federal holidays. The only one not listed in the poll is Columbus Day. I'm scheduled so I have every other Monday off, but those are not holidays, just regularly scheduled days off. If my Monday off falls on a Federal holiday I get an extra day (usually the Friday before the holiday).
