I agree with the OP - I drink tap water all the time. It's pretty much all I drink really :)

My coworkers and I had this discussion the other day. We all went to a chinese restaurant for lunch and I asked for a glass of water as did two of my coworkers. Both of them proceeded to take a sip and gag. They then asked the waiter for bottled water and I called them "water snobs". Honestly, I think water has no taste. I only drink it to keep hydrated.

Read the labels on those bottles of water carefully. Some will state something like: "bottled from the municipal source." Give you 3 guesses what that means . . . :teeth:

My family drinks tap. We do have a Pur filter pitcher, but that is just as much to keep the water cold. Our water tastes fine.

When we go to WDW, we drink the water, but it does taste nasty. If we lived there, I am sure we would buy bottled water.

Same here. DS was getting a lot of cavities even though he barely eats candy. Dentist suggested going back to tap water and he said he has seen a huge increase of cavities in the last few years since the bottled water craze.
There was a story about this on the news the other day. There has been a huge increase in cavities in recent years and they feel it is due to the bottled water so the kids aren't getting enough fluoride anymore. Some companies like Dannon have started selling fluoridated bottled water to combat this.

Does anyone know if filters like Brita and Pur remove fluoride? If they do, even folks using tap water and filtering it may be removing good for you stuff.

When you have a superfund site practically in your backyard you say YES to bottled and NO to tap water.

We used to drink our tap water until we found out our well was polluted from underground gas storage tanks. It took a couple months from when we found out about the pollution until a new water line was run in our neighborhood. During that time I had Poland Springs deliver and just got used to the taste. We've had city water for about 5 yrs but got used to bottled water and still drink that.
My kids are grown but when they were little since we had well water with no fluoride the Dr. gave us prescription for fluoride pills.

I didn't vote because we use both.

I do have a Hinkley Springs Water Cooler and we started that when DD#2 was born so I wouldn't have to buy Infant Water to make formula. We liked having it and have kept it ever since.

I personally don't use the water cooler that much and I use tap water. My DH loves the water cooler and never drinks tap water. My 7yr old DD likes the watercooler because it's easy for her to get some water - the tap in the kitchen is to high for her to reach.

I also like the "HOT" feature on my water cooler for a variety of reasons, but the best reason is for making Hot Chocolate for my DD when she comes in from playing outside.

Filtered tap wasn't an option :)

We have a filter on our tap water at home and it tastes just as good as bottled. The only time I ever buy bottled water is if I'm out somewhere and want a drink.

At home I drink our well water. Tastes great. When I am at work or WDW I drink bottled water. Most tap waters have a taste and some I don't trust.

In NH our tap water is at least as good as any bottled water. In fact, Poland Springs want to draw and bottle water from the next town's supply.

In Florida it's strictly bottled water. Not only does it taste lousy, it comes out of the faucet warm. I'm used to COLD tap water.

im sorry but i think tap water tastes the best. well actually my favorite water is from the fridge. :) My mom has gotten upset because I have been known to take a bottle of water dump it up and then fill it up from the fridge.

A few people have mentioned having water coolers for the convenience and cold water. I feel the same way so here's what we do. We just keep refilling the 5-gallon bottle with tap water. That way there's no expense, no deliveries and we still get the convenience of having the water cooler.

I didn't list filtered water as a choice because I would count that the same as bottled.

For me, it depends. If I'm somewhere that's on a well, I'll drink tap water in a heartbeat. When you're talking about city water that's been treated though, I'll always choose bottled water.

My in-laws have a well and they have the best water I've ever had.

I just haven't acquired a taste for chlorine yet. :rotfl2:

We use a Brita Filter at home and at my parents' house I just drink tap w/ ice in it. The reason for the brita is more to keep the water cold than anything else (we don't have an automatic ice maker or much room for ice cube trays in my apt).

When on a trip I just can't bring myself to pay for bottled water unless it's an incredibly hot day and there is no clean ice around. When DBF and I went on a trip to Ireland we filled our water bottles w/ tap water (they don't believe in water fountains there). Yes, we even filled them with tap water when we were in the bathrooms of dirty hostels :scared1: and no, I'm not dead and it's 6 months later and I haven't grown a third arm yet. In all honesty- Ireland had some of the best tap water I've ever tasted! :thumbsup2

At DBF's mom's house we always drink Brita water because his tap water is actually well water and smells like sulfur and tastes even worse! :rolleyes2

I drink bottled because the tap water down here tastes bad enough that I have trouble drinking it, and because there's enough "stuff" in it (I don't know what) that it gives me a stomach ache to drink tap water. We have had the water checked and it's within regulation, so I'm stuck with bottled.

When I visit family in New Mexico, though, I usually drink tap.

I absolutely HATE water - always have - but I know that I need it, so in order to force it down there's a particular brand of non-carbonated flavored water that I buy.. If I could get that out of the tap, that would be great - LOL - but I can't, so I have to buy it.. ;)

I like bottled water. And certain brands usually taste better. . but for general everyday drinking, our tap works well enough for me.

Both..

We have good tap water but I love the convenience of bottles. Sometimes I refill my bottles with tap.

I prefer tap for the kids also because of flouride.
