Closed for Columbus Day but not Veteran's Day?

My son goes to a Department of Defense school and school is closed today. We were also closed on Columbus Day and school will be closed this Friday for Parent-Teacher conferences.

I just misposted my vote. When you have your final tally subtract one from school open and add it to school closed. My eyes were playing tricks on me and I hit the wrong thing.

DD's private boarding school is open, but ALL the school districts are closed in the area and that would be 6 or so.

We were open on Columbus Day.

I'm not voting on either. The public schools were off yesterday. DS's private school has school in session both days! THAT BUGS ME!! The principal goes and gives them off a day out of the blue because they "did sooooooooo well with the magazine drive," but they don't have today off?!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Northeastern University's classes are cancelled today

I know that my brother and sister at home have no school today as well.

Well our schools are open today, but 2 of my 3 kids are home sick. Usually they are open for Columbus Day also, but this year they were closed for teacher in service.

My daughter's school is closed today but the neighbor kids who go to school a few miles down the road in another county are in school. Very weird.

Our schools are open today. My DS's school had a wonderful Veteran's Day progarm. They invited parents and members of the community that are veterans to attend. DH & I went as we are both USAF Vets.

The Program had music by the Choir and Band, a Speaker and the reading of the winning entry in the schoolwide writing contest, "What Freedom Means To Me". They also had an outside portion that included reading the names of members of the community who had died in service to our country and Taps was played.

DD has ballet and then we are going to see Brother Bear!

Our local schools are open. They probably would have been closed had NJ not had the convention weekend last weekend.
