Hello everyone! We've decided to go for Thanksgiving weekend and we're staying at the Swan for the first time. Kind of excited about it, a little apprehensive. So, I've decided to post a poll.

I'd like to know how the Swan compares to the true "Disney resorts." For those of you who have stayed at the Swan or Dolphin and have stayed at Disney-owned resorts, please share your thoughts with me. What were the major differences? Were you disappointed? Did you miss the true Disney resort?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

PamNC

We have stayed at both the Poly and Swan. This april it was just the swan since we couldnt get a good ap rate at the poly. We have 3 ds, I know you dont have any kids, so the only things we really missed was the charging privileges. I could deal with it for dh and myself (credit cards) but for the kids we had to keep giving them money. The refillable mug was a hike to the dolphin which I knew about, so we just had our tiffany driver stop at the hess mini mart and we loaded up with a few packs of soda etc. so we would not have to bother. Other than that, guess what we missed about the poly - nothing but the big disney bill we would have gotten at check out, ok we did get a nice govt. rate at the swan. Now that is what I call magic!! You will love the swan, first bus pick up, awesome grotto pool, fun karaoke at the kimonos place if you are into that, we didnt go to it, but the smell of palios was amazing and I definetely will put either a fresh breakfast or lunch on the list for our next trip too. You will have a great time at the swan. Enjoy your trip. Oh, also the awesome turn down service with little chocolates on your bed at night etc. What else can I say.

The Swan is awesome. We love it!! We've almost exclusively been staying at the S/D for the past 4 years. (every now and then we slip in a visit at WL or FW cabin area for a change of pace).

We have stayed at many of the "WDW" DELUXE resorts (and 1 moderate) prior but just love the hospitality, comfort and convenience of this resort.

Since they've renovated and added the heavenly beds I honestly don't think I can stay anywhere else:hyper:

IMHO, I sure think of the S/D as "true" WDW resorts;)

I love the Swan - especially those Heavenly Beds~

But, I did have to say I missed something - I miss the charging privileges alot.

I also consider the Swan & Dolphin Disney Resorts -

My family just got back from our 2nd trip to the Swan. We LOVE it there! The fact that is was free for 4 nights using our Starwood point made it even more magical! Great restaurants, beautiful pool with a slide the kids love, heavenly beds, boat service to MGM and Epcot. The reasons why we love it are too numerous to list!

PS It was neat running into you at check in jwfla!

I'll take the Swan or Dolphin over the Polynesian any time!

You guys are getting me excited about the Swan. Thank you. We'll be driving down so we'll have our car. Do they give you the little sheet of paper that goes on your dash with the name of your resort and your check-in/check-out dates? Will I be able to drive from resort to resort to check out the Xmas decorations? That'll be very important for this trip.

The charging privileges don't bother me - we never use that feature anyway. I think I'll miss the Mickey wake-up call, sounds silly I know. We do like Kimonos - already been there. I'm excited that there will be sushi and karaoke right nearby.

I'm very excited about the Heavenly Bed.

We were at the Swan in August and it was wonderful!! It was our first stay also after having stayed the past 2 at Poly. We stayed concierge and I must say, the Swan does a terrific job with their morning service so we always had a good breakfast before heading to the parks.
Yes, I missed the charging privileges too but it was ok.
I did wish the Swan had their own laundry room because it was a bit of a hike with the laundry to walk over to the Dolphin.
The Heavenly Beds---well they are heavenly, that's for sure.
The staff are wonderful.
I definitely plan to stay with the Swan again next year.
Have a good trip, you will not be disappointed.

DisneyFans4!

Our last two trips were at the Poly as well.

Can anyone one answer my question about the sheet of paper in the dash???

Thanks!

Pam,
We just returned from the Swan on Monday and we did not receive any kind of parking pass but we didn't ask for one. The first day we parked without any type of checkpoint or guard but on Sunday there was an employee checking for room key, etc to park at the Swan. Hope that helps!
