Poll: Swan or Dolphin

We currently have a reservation for the Swan for Dec. 1 to Dec. 5. We usually stay at a magic kingdom resort because of our 4 year old but the $129 mousefest rate was too good to pass up. We are taking my 73 y.o. MIL this time and we are renting her a scooter. I have read there are some holiday events going on at the Dolphin that my son might like as well as easy food options are better at the Dolphin. Which resort do you like better regarding location to Epcot, MGM, and the resort pool? Which one would be more convenient for my MIL? Which one has closer self-parking? Thanks!

I like the smaller size of the Swan, and having 2 sinks in the room is very nice. The bus to the Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom picks up and drops off at the Swan before the Dolphin. The Swan's parking lot is a bit closer to the hotel than the Dolphin's. Closeness to the main pool depends on the location of your room. They are equal distance to the boat dock, but the Swan is closer to the Boardwalk, in case you want to walk to MGM. I like the lobby of the Dolphin better, especially at Christmas. If you plan on doing any laundry, the Dolphin has the laundromat. It also has the gameroom, as well as more eating places suitable for kids. I have stayed at both and love both, but as a solo adult traveler - I give the slight edge to the Swan.

To get to Tubbi's, the boat dock, or the pool, your mother-in-law will have to go down the East or West Elevator and then transfer to the Center elevator at the Dolphin. Unless of course you are in the Center Wing or you are on a bottom floor.

Swan has queen beds instead of doubles, so that usually decides it for us. Plus I prefer Westin's Heavenly Bed over the Sheraton version, although I haven't slept at the Swan or the Dolphin in a few years.
