Hi,
I understand there is another thread on this subject, but I'm just turning this into a poll.

I won't buy at $95.00 a point........I'll take my chance on my 7 month window!

I'll never forgot, when we bought 7 or 8 years ago...I told my wife...One day these points will be $100.00

She just laughed!! Who's laughing now?

I would wait for resale. I did buy SSR in 9/03, but at $79. $95 is too much infaltion for me, especilly when we paid cash!:(

I am kind of glad that DH and I bought when we did. We paid $62 or $65 per point. When we bought our resale, I think we paid $65 or $67 per point. Of course, we have 12 less years than SSR, but when our contract runs out, we'll be in our 80's, so 12 more years wouldn't make a difference to me.

I think if it gets above $100 per point, they may have a harder and harder time getting members, especially if something like the Marriott timeshare is priced more competitively. From what I understand, they are very close to Disney in terms of amenities and quality.

we called in sept. 03 to buy SSR. amazingly we were offered BVW! (new inventory due to sales office move) so we snatched that up at $74 (we used mb).

i think if it was $95 we would not have bought, or would have waited for the right resale.

so i vote overpriced.

I voted "overpriced" at $95. We used MB also at the Boardwalk Villas, but added on at VWL at $84. Are considering resales add ons.

Yes, I agree that $95 is a lot, especially for an unopened resort.

But I wonder why people did not buy before the end of October when the price was $79 and you got to keep your first year's points too.

Other than my deposit, I have paid nothing yet, so why wait and be subject to the price increase and also having missed the Dec 1st to Feb 4th priority booking window. I got the same thing the people paying $95 will get next month for $16/point less, so why?

Thanks,
Rex

I'm sure the market is bearing it based on sales reports, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. I'll stick with my old OKW points and take my chances.

SSRex, you're one of the lucky ones as far as SSR goes, good for you!

Bobbi:D

and i was going to add on, but i like to pay cash and i was almost there now it will take me just alittle longer, mickey rats!

at this point i might just wait for that pipe dream for the contemporary to become a dvc resort:teeth:

Even though SSR has more years attached to the end of the contract, the present value of those years is small. A dollar 38 years from now is only worth 32.5 cents in tooday's dollars at 3% interest annually.

I don't beleive SSR is worth purchasing at the current price if you are doing so for those extra years.

Secondly, OKW is literally down the road and can be had for $70 a point resale.

For other personal reasons, maybe, but not the extra years. JMHO.

As for whether SSR is "overpriced", only the rate of sales will tell. I don't think it's overpriced if they are cutting back on the codes for all the WDW resorts.

If they keep issuing those discount codes, I think it will undermine the "value" of DVC for newcomers.

My first contract was VWL for $75 a point (2 1/2 years ago) and there were identical threads about how overpriced that was! :)

It doesn't matter what you are selling, if people are still buying it isn't over priced.
