What resort is the worst for room noise. Hearing your neighbors, listening to neighbors tv, kids, white noise machines?

Thin walls? Which resort was your biggest problem with noise?

MKY princess:

Need an option for None.

We have never had a problem with resort noise in 6 trips, and we've been at 2 different All-Stars, CBR twice, WL and AKL...

over the past two years I have stayed all each AS resort and have heard toilets flushing, babies crying, water running, airconditioning blowing and on one instance a very loud clock. This November I was there until Nov 8 and each morning heard the 6:30 wake up call for the person in the adjoining room: good thing I wanted to get up early too.
I have never heard any "noise" at the POFQ.
I am hoping that my next trip to the AKL will be noise free also.

Several years ago, my DH came down with a stomach virus while at POR. He was up all night, with the upset tummy. Of course, he felt rotten but didn't want to disapoint me so he tried to get going the next morning. Guess what we found on our door? A note from the neighbor next door, complaining about the amount of flushing my DH was doing during the night. I was quite mad! I hope that people might THINK before they scribble out litle notes. I feel better now... THINK

As the OP, I would never leave a note to a neighbor, I would not even consider it. Especially for someone using the bathroom. I never did it for the kid banging the basketball against our wall at the Polynesian for an hour and a half  . Guess I'm more of the passive - agressive type we let our door shut kinda hard once when we left, to get even. Out of all the resorts we have stayed, I truely think for some reason, any room at the poly with the connecting doors (shut) are the loudest. Maybe they didn't have insulation back then? I wish it weren't true, We love the Poly, but it is really the only complaint we have with the resort. In august, I told DS do you hear a frog? and she said yes, turned out after listening, it was "rainforest" white noise machine next door. Aren't those suppose to be pretty quiet, but we could both hear it clear as if it was in our room? Maybe I need to practice to sleep with ear plugs, or headphones? :chat: Hmmmm....

Thanks for the responses, would love to know which of these resorts where so quiet, or what time of year you where there? Maybe they weren't full? Didn't have neighbors?

MKY princess: looking for a quiet resort ::MickeyMo

Boardwalk Inn is the only place I've stayed that I could actually hear the people in the next room talking. It did have a connecting door. I've never had that happen at a value or moderate resort.

We've stayed at ASMo an POR, both in the off-season. At ASMo we heard the turbo-toilets, but I was the only one disturbed by them in the night, though I'm not a light sleeper: so I voted AS. It was very peaceful at POR when we were there.

The ONLY place we've stayed where we had any sort of noise problem in the room was at the Swan. Now, I love the Swan, but the hallway noise is a bit much. It didn't help that there was a party staying across the hall from us who seems to invite the whole large group they were there with to their room for a get together. So the only place we have stayed where we've had any sort of noise trouble was at the Swan (we have also stayed at POFQ, AKL and BWV).

For my past 2 trips we stayed at CBR and NEVER had a noise problem, never heard anything- not a toilet, talking, etc. The only think we heard was mousekeeping trying to get in our room while we were still in bed! We slept in too much. :teeth:

We had a big problem at POFQ - which is supposed to be a quiet resort. We couldn't sleep through the noise of the air conditioning units - much louder than at POP. Does all the moderates have this type of unit (a large unit that sits under the window and makes a sound like a rocket!)

At POP, we had a different type of noise - a housekeeper cleaning up in the room next door (who hated folks having a lie in)

The only time I ever had a problem with noise was when we were staying at Music and it happened to be at the same time as a Brazilian tour group. Being teens, they were a little loud in the courtyard later at night, but luckily we were still awake. I do, however, think that someone else called security on them and made them move to their rooms

It was noisy one time at CSR. People above us were load, kids screaming outside and noise in general just bounced between the buildings. But then another time we stayed there and it was fine. I guess it just depends on where your room is.

We stayed twice at CSR and both times I could hear the people above us and next to us clear as day. I swear the walls there are paper thin! We have never had an experience like that at any other moderate...

Nearly every time we've been at All-Star sports we've had lots of noise that I've never noticed at GF or AKL. One time, we heard lots of truck noise, and, that time, I swore we must have been just outside a fire station. Every night, there were several siren runs. Most recently, we were overlooking the pool, and there were people in the pool until past MN everynight, and we were awakened every morning to the pool deck cleaning. The one time I don't remember much noise, our room was on the side of the building facing the parking lot.

Our worst experience was at the Polynesian. We also had a room that had that connecting door. It was incredibly loud. After suffering through about 4 days of listening to the family next door (and we knew exactly what they were eating/doing/planning every day!!), I stood next to the connecting door and rather loudly told my dd to please lower her volume since there were people next door and they didn't need to hear every detail about her life!! Understand that dd hadn't been making any noise but I really needed to make a point. These folks stayed up late and slept late. We are the exact opposite.

But when we stayed at AllStarMusic last Dec we had one of the quietest stays ever!! We were in the Jazz bldg., on the top floor on the backside facing Movies. We never heard a sound!!! And there were PopWarner kids all over the place at the time.

I really think those connecting doors are the biggest noisemakers on-site!!!

I voted none of the above because noise levels entirely depend on who your neighbors are.

I always go to Disney in the offseason. Several years ago we stayed at AS when the Pop Warner team was there and it was very noisy way past midnight with kids all over the place and the grounds in general were a mess from all the kids.

WL, CBR and PO were all quiet when I've stayed there (you'd hear the occasional toilet or child running past your door at 7:30 but for the most part, quiet). I just came back a few days ago from CSR and I honestly have to say it was the noisiest stay to date. It doesn't sould like it has walls to me. Please don't get me wrong, this is actually my new favorite moderate but the noise was there. My mother thought the toilet flushing noises from other rooms were low flying planes passing overhead. I kept having to tell her if she listened a little closer she could hear the water rushing through the pipes (the fourth flush after lying on the bed is when she realized that I was right). The hotel was supposed to be 95% occupied last week when we stayed and it was - we could hear the neighbors (not a clear conversation or anything) but general little noises, plenty of kids were apparently staying in rooms around us (as when they went outside you could hear thier voices) and the grounds crew were cutting the trees and shrubs when we checked into the room and the sound of the equipment was clear as a bell in the room. Even though we experienced all of that noise, this resort is now our favorite. It has a very festive atmosphere about it as well as beautiful courtyard areas. The pool area is the best and lots of fun. There was just something nice about the atmosphere here and they had big fluffy beds which were really comfortable to sleep on. When your tired you sleep even through all that noise.

We love POP and will stay there again but it was incredibly noisy. Even though we were on the top floor, the way sound carried made it sound like there were people/footsteps above us! It was very odd. We heard a lot of toilets flushing, occasionally could hear people talking in the next room, but most of the noise was from kids running and shouting in the corridors.

We stayed at the Dolphin and didn't hear a thing. It was blissfully quiet.

We've had experiences with "the noise" at WL and AKL.

Each of these rooms was a connecting one.

At AKL we could hear the comings and goings of our neighbors. They were not excessivily loud, just the normal noise of moving around and occupying space. With that said whenever one of the family members was in close proximity to the connecting door (both sides closed of course) we could hear every word that they said. It was like they were standing next to us. Kind of freaked me out a couple of times. We go to bed "late" and get up "late." Fortunately our neighbors on the other side did the same thing. After a couple of nights DH and would sip just a wee bit more wine at dinner to space out the noise.

While staying at the WL we have heard the crib noise (pack and play) bumping against the connecting door. Of course in the rooms this is a good spot for the pack and play so I would not suggest that parents place the pack and play in another part of theie room.
With that said, the bumps of the pack and play sound like an elephant on the other side of the connecting door. Maybe the pack and plays could be pulled a wee bit out from the wall.

With that said the noise that we have heard has not been excessive. It is the noise of people occupying space. After a couple of nights of "hearing the neighbors" we get used to it and can fall asleep to almost anything (also by two days into the trip we're dead tired) at the end of the day.
