Poll: Preferred Form of Park Travel Options/Resorts

Just wondering which you guys like the best and why?

I like Resorts with only buses because they tend to share less with other resorts.

Although the Fort is my favorite resort.

we are beach club natives due to the fact we can walk out the dooe to Epcot every night.It is so nice now with our ds with his stroller..push and go,no folding and climbing on and off bus etc.Very convenient at night when dh and dd want to stay late I justy walk him back to the room for bed etc...

I voted walk to the parks but really the transportation depends on the resort and park. Staying at BW, the walk to Epcot and the Studios is nice but we also hopped on the boat if it was waiting. The walk back from the Studios can feel really long at the end of the day. We drove to the water parks and AK. Took a bus to MK.

The most pleasant travel experience is on the monorail from Epcot to TTC riding with the pilot. At night it is really quite beautiful.

I voted to walk to the parks. The Epcot resort area is our favorite area to stay by far. We love being so close to the International Gateway in Epcot. We get park hoppers and 5 out of 7 nights in October we ended our day in WS. We were on the DDP and we love eating in the International restaurants of WS. We would spend the day at one park and the evenings most often in Epcot.
We also love being able to walk to the Studios. It is a nice pleasant, quiet walkway and you do have the choice of the boats if you are tired or it is too hot.
We find the bus transportation to the other areas to be fine too.
I did budget cab fare for our trip from the BWV to the AKL for dinner at Jiko. It was well worth it to me. And given that we used ME, the money we saved over not renting a car justifies a few cab rides if you choose to.
You did not say how old your family members are. If you have little ones in strollers, and your focus is most likely going to be the MK, then I would recommend a Monorail resort. The convenience of this with little ones can not be overstated. I went with DS and 2 Grandchildren in April and we stayed at the Poly. It was wonderful to be able to return for a rest mid day and to be on the Monorail. We also walked to theTTC for the Epcot Monorail. They got to ride in front and had a blast.

I voted Monorail Resort because in my opinion it's the best form of WDW transportation and they usually come around every 5 minutes or so and have the less amount of waiting times. Of course if I could have picked a 2nd option I would have picked walking to the parks because when my family and I stay at the Contemporary, we always use the walkway to the Magic Kingdom when going there for the park opening.

Boats sound great in theory, but I'm not surprised they have the lowest vote. They are SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. And if they are the ones from Wilderness Lodge to the MK, good luck getting there in under an hour if it's anywhere before during or after the Electrical Water Parade or the MK nighttime parades and fireworks.

Each one has certain advantages, but I voted "boat" as the "most pleasant".
It's not the most efficient, but for "plesant" I think it wins.

We'll be staying at SSR on our next trip and think that the BW resorts are in an excellent location for walking or taking the boat.

I voted for monorail resort but sometimes those get so expensive and we stay at resorts with buses. Those are my second favorite form of transportation. I really *hate* the boats. First, I'm not a big boat person and it does take forever!

I voted for monorail because my entire family really enjoyed it. It was a real vacation and convenience for us.

Love the Epcot location but if my son was choosing he would just pick CR. He LOVES WL but feels that CR is just better because of the Monorail. . .

I really don't care as long as I am there. . .lol

About the Epcot resorts:

It seems very convenient to be able to walk to Epcot and MGM. To get to MK, can't you just walk to Epcot and hop on the monorail to MGM from there? Is that the most convenient route?

I like being in control of my own destiny, so I do like walking to the parks, we love the BWI, so that was my choice.
Getting to the MK from the BW one time we walked through Epcot and out to the monorail and took it to the TTC and then switched to the MK monorail. It took forever and we were exhausted, that was A LOT of walking. It is easier to just grab the bus to the MK.
That said, we also liked staying at the Poly, I felt like there was the widest array of transportation options. You have a monorail or boat to the MK, and the option of walking to the TTC and getting a monorail/bus anywhere from there. The only problem, we have had hit or miss luck with the bus service from the TTC.

Momorail from the Poly for me! You are just a short ride to Epcot or the Magic Kingdom. Plus you are just a short walk from the TTC.

It is great to stay at the Beach Club at walk to Epcot, but the bus situation is horrible. You share with all the other boardwalk area resots, so the busses are full and the rides long. Yick!

We enjoy the monorail resorts as they are the "best of all worlds" with both monorail and boat transport.

Prior to this last trip I would have said the monorail. We stayed at the GF, and yes it was quite convenient to be one monorail stop away from the MK, but the trip back sometimes would take 20-30 minutes.

Without a doubt the best way into a park is walking into Epcot from the YC/BC or BWI resorts. Walking into the MK from the CR is quite nice too, though I think it is a longer walk.

I voted for being able to walk to the parks. But if I can't walk, then my choice is to drive my own (rental) car.

There's nothing like staying at a monorail resort. This was the way WDW was supposed to be built. It's very convenient to both the MK and Epcot. That said, we are usually at OKW using our DVC points, so we are most often riding the bus. OKW has pretty good bus service.

I agree, Micca! The boats are most pleasant & relaxing!

I like the leisurely pace of a boatride, and I think that the water features are among the most scenic parts of WDW. I really like the boat to DTD from POFQ/POR. It's fun to see the treehouses along the way! I also regularly take advantage of the Epcot & MK resort boats. In fact, one of our most memorable evenings included a lovely dinner at Artist Point and a nighttime boatride back to MK. We sat in the front of the boat with Wishes exploding in the sky before us and EWP trailing by.... it was very romantic! You can't get that experience on a bus!

**I didnt realize you can walk directly to MK from the CR-wow!
CR looks less preferred to me because it seems less themey and appears more like a mall atmosphere (please bear in mind I am purely basing this opinion on my childhood trips back in the 80's), but it does sound like the most convenient resort as far as parks travel. Is this correct?

**Also, I thought you could take the monorail directly from Epcot to MK-my last trip was in mid 90's and I thought I remembered this. So you can't?
