Hey everybody! I know that this must depend on a thousand different variables such as crowd levels, etc., but just out of curiosity...if you requested a specific room at your resort, did you get it?

I've never requested a specific room, but I have made building and/or floor and/or general area requests and they've always been granted. :)

For example:

At the WL CL, we requested an inner courtyard view and received it.

At CBR we requested a building close to the food court/pool area (this was before they had the option of booking a preferred location) and twice were given Martinique 25, which is in an excellent location, which is now "preferred" and costs a few dollars more per night.

At POR we requested a building in the Alligator Bayou section that was fairly close to the main building/bus stop, and we were given Building #18, which was in a great/convenient location.

At Polynesian lagoon concierge, we knew we'd be in the Hawaii building and in a room facing the lagoon, but we requested the third floor on 3 different trips and on all 3 trips we got it.

At Animal Kingdom Lodge we booked a pool view room and asked for a room that was not too far of a walk, and we were given a room in a good location, very near the elevators and not too far of a walk from the lobby. Our view of the pool was somewhat obstructed by thin trees, but we loved it.

At the Grand Floridian we didn't make any requests because we were standing right there in the lobby, we asked if they had any Magic Kingdom view rooms, and since they did, we took that room and moved from CBR to the GF right then and there. lol We did pay for a lagoon view room, which was the only option at that time with a MK view.

I think the less specific you are, the more likely you'll be to get a room in an area of the resort that you want :)

Yes. Last trip I requested the same room my wife and I stayed in during our honeymoon. POR. I called 5 days before check in, as suggested by the front desk folks at POR, and let them know. The only drawback we had is that everytime we go, we seem to get at the front desk of the resort by 1pm. Everytime. And, our room is always ready by then. When we got to POR, they informed us that our room wouldn't be ready untill later in the evening. Not really a problem, considering we were using Magical Express and had no luggage anyway, but we had to check the laptop at the luggage station. We hopped on the boat to DTD, called every few hours. It was ready at about 7pm. But, it was worth it.:thumbsup2

I have never requested a specific room, but have requested floors and such and, sadly, they have rarely if ever been granted. :sad2:

I always make requests when I make the reservation or when I pay the balance of our vacation and I always get my requests. It has never been for a specific room, but always non-smoking, top-floor (value). Our last trip to ASMusic I requested non-smoking, top-floor, renovated room and the CM did a wonderful job of granting all requests and we ended up with a quiet room location.

When we stayed at POR I didn't request a specific room, but I did request to be in the mansions section. We didn't get it and were put in the Aligator Bayou section instead. It turned out ok though, as we ended up really liking where we were in the end.

I had to check no as only 1 time did we not get a room we requested. Last year at WL we requested a room with a king bed. Upon check in the CM said she was sorry, I can't give you a king bed, but how would you like a refurbished room that was finished yesterday, you will be the first ones to stay in it?

Well let me think YES - that was soo much better than a room with a king bed!

Other times I have requested full balconies, close to pool, - always have gotten the requests.

Maybe the best approach is no request. We booked garden view at the Poly July 11-15 and didn't know what we really wanted so we decided not to make a request. We were upgraded to 3rd floor concierge. Not sure why, but don't think I'll make any specific requests next time either:thumbsup2

One time yes, one time no. When we stayed at CBR our location request was granted. When we stayed at ASMo it wasn't. (But we actually liked our location better than where we would have been, so it worked out okay.)

Only one time in over 14 trips have I not gotten the 'location' I requested. I asked for an upper floor at POP...didn't even care what building, just level 3 or 4. And I ended up on the ground level. There were no other rooms, which I found hard to believe, but it worked out okay.
The really funny time was the time I headed to BWV for a solo trip in early Dec. I got the exact same studio that we had had on our first ever stay at BWV...looking out on the Village Green and the boardwalk...I couldn't believe my good fortune.
Otherwise, I never, ever would request a specific room, just a specific location....close to the elevators, higher floor, overlooking the pool..that kind of thing.

I have to list my vote as No. I have requested a few things over the years and they have never been granted. Ex:

1. Smoking room water view BC - put in a nonsmoking room and told to smoke on the balcony. After pissing off a few other people and feeling cheated went to the front desk and complained. They upgraded me to CL because that was the only smoking room. So it all worked out in the end.

2. Again back in my smoking days requested a smoking room at BW and got told again to smoke on the balcony. I stayed in this room because the view was spectacular and it seemed we had no one around us (January trip)

3. AKL anniversary trip asked to be on Zebra trail and was put on the other side (? Kudu) but I was still on the Arusha Savannah. However it was a hike to the lounge. But the anniversary gift made up for all the mistakes.

4. CBR and CSR both resorts put many requests to be near the food court and never once was close.

However we have been upgraded a few times and they also do little special things so all in all this made up for all those lost requests. :thumbsup2

I think I will try the calling 5 days ahead, room requests made at the time of reservation are not only not granted , but rarely show up on documents, so I call and mention it, but we still don't get them. At checkin, after getting the assigned room and finding its not what we requested I have asked. I asked for a higher floor with a fridge.... not even that specific....fridge was a necessity for dd (Nightly pumping of milk) as I indicated when I called a couple times... yet it still took them a while to come up with it... eventually we got it...
to me it's like going to store, asking for a pair of pants and just taking what they give you... you can request a size (the resort) and usually get it, but the color and style are ...well....... :rotfl: :) :lmao: :goodvibes :thumbsup2

good luck to all

We requested a room with a King bed at All Star Music for our Honeymoon, they said they were giving us one, we got there and there were two double beds, this repeated through about five rooms, they finally realized that they had just finished a lot of remodeling and information in the computer had not yet been updated, the next time they first went and physically checked to see if the room had a king bed and it did, but they were great about trying to help us. As a result we didn't get the Broadway building as we had originally wanted, but it was worth it.
