My DH and I are feeling a little guilty...well...just a little. We just returned from our second trip of the year, each trip being 7 nights. Stayed at the Poly both times. LOVE IT!

Anyway, we were wondering how many times most people go per year.

What's your average length of stay? Where do you usually stay? Same resort each time?

We only went once last year, but we usually go two times per year. We usually stay 5-7 nights. We actually went three times one year, but one trip was a quick weekend thing. Fun!!! Like I said, just returned from our second trip of the year, and we're talking about going back the week of Thanksgiving...are we crazy???

We usually go 2-3 times annually.

However, this year we will make five trips: Feb-AKL, May-BC, July-Poly (resort only), Sept-GF, Dec-WL.

On average our stays are 5-7 nights.::yes::

OUr first trip was Feb99. We went again a year later a decided we would go every Feb. Then one year we wanted to see the Xmass Decorations so we went dec and mar. The next year we wanted to go to Food and Wine so went nov and feb. Now we hope to go F&W and Feb every year. We're hoping to buy DVC soon though, so I have a funny feeling we might go to three trips a year. It's addictive!!!

We use to go more often, but since my husband doesn't have Universal as a client anymore, we can't use work as an excuse to go. We usually go for 7 - 10 days, and end up staying at the same places a lot of the time. I find that we lean toward either Old Key West or Ft. Wilderness Cabins, as we like to have the extra space and a kitchen when we are there for a long period. Sometimes we will stay the first or last night somewhere new just to try another resort. When we did a spur of the moment 4 night trip, we tried CSR because we got a great rate (AP rate of $79/nt), but it was themed too much like home. If they every open up the treehouses again I want to stay there...very cool.

Hopefully we can make it back at the beginning of December, but I don't like leaving the kitties home :(

I am a DVC owner - so we mostly stay in DVC resorts (saves on points big time)

but I have stayed in just about everything on property - exception GF (not my style), BWI, All Star Mo and Spo -CSR (on the list) and POFQ (on the list) and AKL (definitely on the list)

have stayed at
Polyn (many times)
WL (many times)
BC (many times)
POR (DL ) many times
YC, Cont (couple), CBR, All Star Mu, Pop Century (Couple)

have stayed at all the DVC resort expect the new SSR
OKW, VWL, BCV, BWV - many times.....

I couldn't vote. I haven't been in 8 years. :( I used to go every other year though.

We go about 3 times a year. We are fortunate to be Fl. residents so we usually stay for a long weekend. We usually go to celebrate a special occasion, the kids' birthday, our anniversary, etc... We love MNSSHP so we almost always make a point to go in October which also celebrates my oldest DD's birthday!

We usually stay at ASMo or Moderate (CBR or POR). In October we always get a cabin in Ft. Wilderness.

Don't feel guilty and your not crazy, afterall, it's the happiest place on earth! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

As we are DVC members it is really affordable for us to go 3 times a year. We stay for 10 nights/9 days. We always arrive on Thursday, and for the first 3 nights, we stay at a different deluxe each time. Then we head over to BCV's (our home resort) for the last 7 nights.:D

In 15 months' time, we will have visited 5 times. This will probably become the norm for us. APs are in our future! Before DS, we stayed Deluxe. Now we stay Value and spend money on character meals. As he gets older, we'll change resorts based on his preferences (well, ours, really, but we'll say it's for him!).

thanks everyone! Since we go a lot, DVC is something we've considered, but we're still on the fence.

Can't decide. I'm reluctant because I like the flexibility of staying at the various resorts - which I know you can do but doesn't that eat up a lot of points? Also, Saratoga Springs doesn't interest me. Don't like the theme or the location. So, if we bought into STS, would we have to use a lot of extra points if we wanted to book BCV (my preference).

Living in CA, usually only 1 trip. But now that we have AP's, its looking like 2 trips.::MickeyMo

Pam, I think you should go check out the DVC board. Most questions you have will be answered there. Saratoga is only 10% cheaper than BCV (for instance one night in the cheapest season in a studio is 11 points at SSR or 12 at BCV).

In regards to your poll, we go at least 3 times per year. This year my DD who is only 3 and I will have gone 5 times between Jan and Dec:p (My DH is only going on 3 of those).

We usually do 2 long (at least 7 nights) and the rest 4 or 5 nights. DVC definately makes this possible for us. We usually stay at BCV or BWV (but this year we also did OKW and AKL).

Normally just one trip of at least 7 nights but occassionally we also go a 2nd time for a shorter trip (3-4 nights).

We used to go four times a year (when I was a teacher, since I was at the school my son attended we always had the same vacation time). Then, for 17 years we didn't go at all.

We decided in 2001 to go back for "one last visit". Big mistake...that became "one more visit"...and then "one more", which resulted in buying AP's, and I'm planning visits three, four and five for this year!

Now that we're empty-nesters, WDW makes a great long-weekend getaway.

We used to stay at Fort Wilderness in those early years (first in a tent, then a pop-up camper, then a 17 foot trailer). Then we "graduated" to PO Riverside. We've also tried the Dolphin (nice, but not our style), Pop Century (loved it) and All Star Music (loved that one, too). In October we're going to CBR, and haven't quite decided for the other trips. Maybe AKL or WL, or maybe back to Riverside, or even one of the values. We'll just have to keep going back until we've tried all the resorts (and maybe every type of room at each resort, right?)

If we buy annual passes, we go at least twice a year. We got our passes in Dec 03. and went then. We also went in May of this year. Instead of buying me a birthday gift, my husband gave me a trip to DW. Our next trip is in Sept 04. We usually stay six or seven nights.
I guess we will get three trips out of these annual passes...

We only go once every two years because I absolutely refuse to have a budget on my vacation...we did Disney on the Honeymoon Grand Plan in 1997 and turned into spoiled brats.
We have been sticking to Halloween week and staying at YC on the full plan.

So, we basically spend the year in between paying off what we spent and paying off the next vacation!

For us it varies. This year we are doing 3 trips (8/03, 12/03, 7/04) as we got Aps, however next year will wont go to WDW at all(GASP!) because we think we are taking a Disney cruise out of CA and that will cost us about the same as 2 or 3 Disney trips.

As the kids were growing up we used to go every other year. Now that the kids are grown, DH & I go one big trip by ourselves and one short trip with family each year. Except this year--DH & I have done one short trip with family in Jan. and two short trips by ourselves this spring! Plus we have our big trip by ourselves coming up in Nov./Dec! Three nights at the WL and three nights at the AKL!
