I was wondering if anyone has actually been inside Atlantic Dance as a dance club. I have been a DVC member at BWV for almost 9 years and I have NEVER been inside.

I really covet the building ... I think it would make a great dining facility. The Boardwalk really needs a counter service restaurant.

What does everyone think about changing it to a restaurant or other entertainment complex?

I was there once on my birthday in 2005...My best friend and I decided to spend my birthday on the Boardwalk, we ate at Spoodles...We knew we wanted to go to JellyRolls later, so we popped into Atlantic Dance Hall first...There only about 5 other people in the place, and they were all together...We sat for a bit to see if it would get any more lively and it didn't...But I got a free shot of my choice for my birthday, so it wasn't a total loss:rotfl: Then we left and went to Jelly's....I wish they would do something with this place, especially now that there is nothing at PI.

Also a member at BWV and have never been in the place. I think they should do something with the place....prime real estate locaction and all, and like your idea of a dining facility...something different then just another restaurant on the boardwalk though.

I think a nice Counter Service restaurant, like Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, would be a huge improvement in the Boardwalk area. There is only ONE Counter Service type restaurant shared by the FIVE Epcot resorts and that one's over in the Dolphin and does not take the DDP. The lack of a CS restaurant has always annoyed me ... every other Deluxe resort has a CS/Snack Shop type of place.

there are a few CS's in the EPCOT resort area that take the DDP:
BW bakery (with a great lunch panini) & belle vue lounge.
BC/YC have the BC marketplace (good variety of hot & cold b'fast offerings, i've never tried lunch there tho), Hurricane Hannah's (burgers & such), & Ale & Compass lounge.

none are as extensive as some of the park & resort offerings (the pepper market @ CSR is delicous!!), but there is a bit available :)

ETA: i've been there a few times: for DVC WHWs (booooring), & nights out with mom & SIL. in the eves, there would be no more 8-10 ppl besides us.
i think a club/restaurant would have potential there...maybe counter service type (eg, burgers, paninis, etc) all the time, with a 21 & over once the bar opened. even better would be if they themed it into a kind of adventurer's club, but with food :scratchin .
btw, on all of my three trips last year, there were multiple parties going on in the hall (proms, weddings, etc).

I've never stepped foot in there either!

I think another restuarant is a great idea!

Or how about...a spa! Oh yeah..now we're talkin'!

You're right ... there are a few places available but none of them compare to the CS places in the other Deluxe resorts. FWIW, I didn't know that the BC Marketplace had hot food. I thought they only had premade offerings.

Now that PI is closed, I guess it's the only place to dance. Have been there many times and it's usually empty. The only time I've seen it busy was last Columbus Day weekend. My kids like it because since it's not busy, they can usually request all their favorites from the DJ.

I wonder if convention business justifies keeping the dance hall in place. It gives Disney an entertainment venue to market to convention groups as well as unique space they can rent out to groups (convention, wedding, etc.) for private gatherings or meetings.

Never been in there myself.

EDIT: Just read this in another thread:

My sources tell me that Disney has a contract with the Swan and Dolphin to provide a night club.

We're also BWV owners and we've never been there. Sounds like maybe it could be put to better use . A good CS would be nice - the BW needs one. Maybe something like the new Contempo at the CR?

This may be correct. The only time I have been there was when my husband's company rented it out for a party as part of their convention, that was being held at the Yacht Club Convention Center.

I wish they would add another restaurant at the BW too.
We almost always arrive on a Sunday around noon, and look forward to a bite while waiting to get into the room.
ESPN is always crowded with loud sports fans, and lately there has been such a wait at Big River, which is nice but not really worth a 45 minute wait. I think a CS restaurant would be a real nice addition, since the food carts aren't open and pizza from the window is more like a reinactment of Hitchcock's "The Birds".
I hope the contract for a nightclub runs out!

I just voted - Yes, I've danced there - but just realized I'll skew your results without an explanation - sorry!

Yes, I danced there many, many times back in the swing dancing hey days of Atlantic Dance. A bunch of us from Orlando, Tampa and the east coast got all dolled up and danced there regularly.

BUT, that was many years ago, before WDW realized we only drank water (i.e.: it cost more in operation costs than was made in bar revenue). They stopped booking bands, fired the swing DJs and I haven't been back since.

So, while I carry some very fond memories of the place, I agree 100% that they need to do something with it. A smallish food court sounds like an interesting option.

I was inside the building a few summers ago for a Welcome Home Wednesday. I wasn't impressed and never went back. I agree with others - Disney can use that building for better purposes; there never seems to be crowds going in/coming out of Atlantic Dance.

DH and I went in there summer of 07. We didn't stay very long. The place was pretty empty and when we tried to get a drink at the bar, the bartender was too busy talking to the young ladies. It just didn't impress us, so we went to Jelly Rolls. :)

I think with PI closed, they need another adult venue besides Jelly Rolls. And right now Atlantic Dance is not it.

Every time I wlaked into the place it was empty. Adventurer's Club new location anyone?

It was wonderful when the swing band was there - - we went all the time and really enjoyed it! I don't know why they stopped, but we really wish they would bring it back!

Been BWV owner for alomost ten years
Never been in ther and everytime we went by it seemed empty.
Assumed it got busy later on after midnight?

How about a disney version of margarittavile??

Goes with the Beach theme.

WHat is going on at PI?
