Poll: Has SSR become the best DVC Resort currently?

You can go directly to any other resort from SSR in an easier manner than from almost any other resort due to the buses at DD, and certainly easier than any other DVC resort.

That is a very good point that my wife and I didn't even consider when we recently decided to purchase a contract at SSR. One of the problems we faced when staying at properties such as Pop or CBR was trying to get to the other resorts for dinner reservations in a timely manner. On a couple occassions, even when we thought we were planning for enough time, having to be re-routed almost caused us to miss our reservations. For those that were not a monrail trip from MK we finally decided it was easier to go to DTD first then take the specific resort bus. Now after considering how much we like to dine at the other resorts, being so close to DTD's busses seem like it is going to be an unexpected bonus of staying at SSR.

I have stayed at SSR three times. It is not my favorite resort, by any means. It will be a very pretty resort once the trees grow up somewhat, but it's too large, and the busing is a problem. Right now SSR uses mostly the old buses, and they are too high for me to climb the steps. At Thanksgiving several drivers gave me a difficult time about getting in via the handicapped entrance. I spent 4 days walking to DTD to find the buses that "kneeled" so I didn't have to feel embarassed about my knees, and it really ruined my desire to stay at SSR in the future.

I love my home resorts of BW and OKW.

Good replies guys and I concede that it is entirely impossible to do an unbiased poll here on the Dis.

With the number of great trip reviews I wondered if the "balance of power" had shifted and SSR had become the "top dog".

Poll has been pretty consitent so far with roughly twice as many people saying SSR is not the best DVC Resort.

SSR won't ever be my favorite DVC resort, but it will always be a place that I can happily stay at.

Being fairly new here, I've followed the trip reports with great interest. It seems that SSR gets rave reviews.

Please give this some thought before you just go and vote.

Taking into account the following is SSR currently the best DVC Resort? Nope

1) location. Nope. Unless you want a DD type vacation. Which I have loved in the past. As I have loved "the don't even leave the BW" vacation
2) Theme. Nope. VWL wins that hands down. Hands down
3) amnenities Maybe with the gym and spa. Nice. Can't afford the spa but nice
4) dining compared to other DVC Resorts. No. Tried TC twice. Not a fan. Weird washroom situation. And certainly not a fan of children racing on horses, even for a minute, in an "upscale" restaurant. Love kids. HATE this "entertain them at all cost mentality" these days. What the heck do they have to look forward to. Geez that is a whole other post. Sorry.
5) pool. Nice main pool Love CP pool
6) condition of the rooms i.e. cleanliness and decor. depends on your taste of course. Lovely decor...not me...but lovely
7) cost of rooms on a per point basis, i.e. value. fair
8) Well there isn't an eight but had you looking.

Well I've come to the conclusion that SSR just looks too much like home to me. The vegetation and landscaping I mean (live very close to upstate NY). I prefer to feel "away".

Well said.-I'd say that's how our family feels about it too!
