Hi everyone.

I think it would be interesting to know the statistics for those who have seen WOC. Would you say 1) it's a MUST see 2) it's good/okay but not worth the hassle 3) didn't really see what all the hype was about it. (Actually I decided to put 4 poll options for more flexibility.)

I realize (for the pros and die hards) that they will say it matters when a person went, if they came early, where they got a spot to view, etc. I'm not going to go into all those details, just want a basic loved it/liked it/disliked it poll.

This is my first poll and I don't know how they work, but please vote only once.

Thanks!

I voted Good but not worth the hassle. I would have liked it a lot better if it had a story line. To me it was just a bunch of DIsney songs and scenes thrown together with no rhyme or reason. Ithink of it as a cluster. I will admit it was a feast for my eyes. I will see it again, but I for sure will never do a dinnig package, or picnic, as I don't think the show is worth the money.

I loved it! For us it's a must see at least once each trip from now on.

I voted "Must See" but would have preferred another category which says it is only worth seeing if you invest the time to know the good viewing spots and to arrive early enough to get those spots. Otherwise it is really not worth it.

I didn't vote but I'd put it under "nice to see but not an absolute must-see." I can't say I'd never see it again (in fact, I'm planning to see it this trip). But if I only had 1 or 2 nights in Disneyland and everyone in my party had already seen it, I'm not sure I'd bother, just because of the aforementioned hassle.

This. :thumbsup2

I voted so-so. We saw it the week after it opened, we're the guinea pigs to figure out viewing tricks so we didn't have a very good view. I'd say it wasn't worth the hassle, but DH and I will probably try in January since we won't have the kids. I'll reserve judgement on if we would do it again with the kids after trying it again. Unless it totally wows me in January, I probably wouldn't out my 4 kids through the hassle unless it was a total holiday show.

This trip we were going to skip WOC because we didnt think it was worth all the time we wasted last trip getting fastpass and lining up. Just as it started we figured wed go and see how much you can see from outside the reserved area, figuring we could always go home. So we watched from outside the viewing area, and actually had a better view than when we were in the reserved area. So I gotta say I enjoyed it a lot more this time.

However my 5yo DS was not impressed and kept asking if Tower of Terror was still open every couple of minutes. He had a great view BTW. :)

I wasn't that impressed the first time but saw it again with my mom and now am not looking forward to having to sit through it a third time but our kids and friends have not seen it. For some reason, it just doesn't hold my attention.

I'd say it is a "must-see" once. Then it's a nice to show to see if you have enough time and don't mind the hassle. I don't think we'll take the time on out next trip to see it. I really think there must be a way for Disney to have this show without having people frustrated and upset...better crowd management, better informed cast members so guests don't get conflicting advice, rules about kids on shoulders, etc. I really like the show...but not the hassle. I agree with Hydroguy..if you are going to see it, make the time to get a good viewing spot.

Same here, but it could have something to do with being exhausted from jet lag the one time I did see it.

However, Illuminations at EPCOT? Have seen it MANY MANY times and love it every time...even listen to the music in my car sometimes.

Thanks for the votes so far!

I have this feeling that if I did a similar poll on the WDW boards BUT did it for Spectromagic, that I would see similar results. That's my dilemma, I don't want to waste time and effort for something I think I really won't enjoy (WOC) just because so many other people like it.

Love Electrical Parade, Illuminations, fireworks, Fantasmic! in DL but not WDW.

Hated Spectromagic, just can't get into some of the daytime parades. Love some but bored by others.

Oh, and I watched all of WOC on utube - from someone who had a good viewing spot and did a great job filming.

I think I would be like a pp's son - I'd be thinking I want to go on ToT or be doing something else.

This, exactly. It is spectacular and technologically beautiful enough that everybody should take the time once. After that, you can decide whether it was worth the hassle enough to go again. We've watched it while standing in line for TSMM, and like the view from the balconies of VGC the best now, but won't spend park time que-ing anymore.

I completely agree with this. We didn't line up early enough and are too short to see over those in front of us; so the bottom half of the show was lost on us. What I could see was spectacular but I was very disappointed that lining up an hour (!!!) early wasn't early enough to get a good spot. I think I would only invest the time in it again if we're there for several days and would therefore not mind the sacrifice of precious time in the parks.
It is a beautiful show though!

I LOVE WOC. Since it has been out we make a point to see it at least once eac visit. It is very beautiful, breathtaking, and for me nostalgic in a way. It puts all of my favorite disney movies in one beautiful water show(: annnd for a plus it makes the DBF tear up; I love seeing him all happy and emotional :p

We saw it last week and no one in our party was impressed. We didn't put much time or effort into waiting for a good viewing spot (one person in our party doesn't like "wasting" over an hour waiting for a show and another recently had foot surgery and can't stand that long). So, we went into our Blue section less than 10 minutes before the show and got a fairly good spot on the beginning of the bridge behind the first row of people. We could see almost everything with some manuvering (guy in front of us put his kid on his shoulders when the show started...wasn't sure why since they had an unobstruced view in the front row).

As for the show, like someone else said, it was just music and movie clips shown on water (something Fantasmic has already done, but Fantasmic has so much more than just that). I might see WoC again, only if we had no wait and could get an unobstruced view...otherwise, I'd rather spend that time going on rides.

We saw the 2nd showing of Fantasmic two nights later and easily got a spot SITTING near the center, about 4 rows from the water less than 25 minutes before show time (and there were still plenty of seats in that section at that time). Compare that to the amount of hassle and time it takes to see WoC (for a show that is much better than WoC), I would always choose to see Fantasmic over WoC.

My family made me promse to never make them go again :)
But I'd agree with Hydroguy - a sweet spot for viewing may have made it at least bearable for my 7 & 9yo boys. But by the time the show finally started - they were done. And don't get me started on the crummy *funnel* of people out the gates due to construction and the hours of operation that day that made any good feelings you had *disappear*

We (DW, DS(11), DD (8), and myself) saw it last Friday and weren't impressed at all. First off, we purchased the dinner package @ Ariel's. While the meal was ok, it was definitely NOT worth the jacked-up price that was attached too it simply because it was a package. After the meal, we all wished we went to Napa Rose instead! Heck, we could have had a much better meal and probably saved ourselves a few bucks along the way.

As for the show itself, as pp said - it has no story. It's just random clips crammed together. Ironically DS said exactly the same the moment the show ended. It pales in comparison to Fantasmic. The only reason why we stayed is because a) we were crammed in like sardines, and b) had paid nearly $200 to be there.

Plus the whole viewing system/process was a nightmare. DW & I chose to separate. DW & DD went to the front, lowest section of the preferred viewing area because there still was rail space available. Plus DD loves being in the front for everything. Unfortunately, while they did get a rail spot, they ended up all the way on the left near the stairs. This particular corner is set back due to the location of a light pole. While the pole itself didn't obstruct their view, they couldn't see anything because several people, as pp said, along the actual front section had kids on their shoulders. DD was nearly in tears.

DS & I we on the second the tier of the preferred viewing area. I positioned myself there based on hydroguy's recommendation that, being elevated, it was better. Plus I wanted to try to video the show. Initially all went well. We stood behind two EVCs who were along the rail, which initially gave us an excellent view. The only problem with the location - that I didn't realize until the show started - was that the aforementioned pole blocked my view of the projections played on the loop of Cali-Screaming.

About 15 minutes before the show, things went downhill. A CM pushed us to the left to make room for another ECV, which in itself wasn't a problem. (NOTE: this isn't meant to bash those who need to use them.) However, along with the guy on the EVC came his entire family of about 12 people - including 6 who were much taller than myself. They managed to obstruct a good portion of the entire right half of the show. Start rant now: Why is it that I lost out after paying nearly $200 for a meal package because Disney didn't create a viewing area for the families of handicapped guests? To me, I have no issue with the individuals themselves (and those needed to care for them) receiving accommodations, but why did his entire extended clan get the same treatment? Disney really needs to limit the number of guests that can accompany those who need accommodations, because this family clearly was abusing the system. Ironically, the CM, minutes later, brought another man on an EVC, but, immediately upon arrival, he asked to be returned to where he had been because he couldn't see anything due to the "clan."

Once the show started (as if I weren't already annoyed at this point), the patriarch of the clan stood up rather easily and, not only did he stand for the entire show, his grandson, who appeared to be a little older than DS, stood on the seat to see over his own family, thus adding another head to look around. Then, as if to put icing on the proverbial cake, he walked out of the viewing section after the show without even a limp so he could, as he put it, "stretch his legs," allowing one of his sons drive the EVC. While I can't speak for others, I would never drag my grandmother, who needs to be in a wheelchair and can't ride anything beyond Small World, just to receive preferential treatment. And, if you really don't need it, you should be ashamed.

So, to wrap things up: awful show with no storyline, over-priced dinner packages, a so-called preferred viewing area that actually gains you no advantage of seeing the show unobstructed, and a policy that guarantees abuse. I would rate this as our worst Disney experience EVA, never to be repeated again.

Thought it was so so the first time I saw it. Watched it again another night during our vacation last year and was blown away. Viewing it in the right areas has alot to do with the show and having all the effects working.
