For us, since we're Sun-Thurs people, it does impact us alot.

We will be charged a good chunk more of points so we will probably downsize our room accomodations.....using 1 bedrooms and studios over our usual 2 bedrooms. Wonder if we will see an increase in the reservations of studios or 1 bedrooms from those that normally would have rented 2 bedrooms ?

Also probably won't do the add-on we planned....because if Disney did this in the manner they did this time, they will do it again. Lost faith in how they announce their plans & treat their Members. We should have gotten MUCH more head's up on this as we recently did an add-on and would have added at least 20-30 more points had we know about this. Our add-on was a mere 3 months ago. Now they have increased the cost (AKV). So I feel that was a bit sneaky on their part. First an added resort fee of $95 to stay at a non Dvc disney hotel.......then the swith from II to RCI.....now this. Just not as enthusiastic about my DVC as I was.

We own at AKV and just added on last week. Wish I had known about the chart before, because I probably would have added a few more points to make up the difference for the times we travel. As a result, we will probably stay in savannah view our first stay then downgrade to standard view.

If you are still within your 10 day cancellation period (which is 10 days from the date you actually signed the contract) I'd bet that Disney will allow you to increase those extra points that you need. Certainly worth a call if that is your preference.

I checked all four of my planned 2010 trips, and each and every one of them will require less points. I'm happy! :cool1:

I checked all three of my planned 2010 trips and I am NOT happy! The new total is exactly 50 points more. There will be no adding on. I might add that all my trips fall in school vacation time, ie, Xmas, Easter and also Thanksgiving. These are where I've seen the biggest hit. My solutions will include downgrading from a one bedroom to a studio on my next Xmas (BWV standard) trip. My Xmas S-TH one bedroom increased by 30 points over 5 nights. I think that's quite substantial. The weekend points dropped by 30 for the two days so a full week stayed the same.

So competition for studios will increase. And those of us who took larger units, will now maximize occupancy in smaller units. For example, family of four in a studio versus a one bedroom. More wear and tear....

I'll give up my one bedroom and use my 11 month window to book Boardwalk view in a studio, which will free up a few points to allow me to add somewhere else.

I've noted quite a few people saying they would stay in studios versus larger room sizes. I guess this is a trickle down effect. When I first purchased I had enough points to stay in a studio for 5 nights at Xmas and Easter at BWV....arrived at this number after a long session with my guide.

Was I aware of what the contract stated? Yes. I read it and I was informed prior to meeting my guide. I did my homework. Did I expect such an abrupt change? No. Can I roll with it? Yes. Does that mean I have to like it? No. Will I 'sell' DVC to others as I have in the past? No. Because it is no longer as good a deal, with the new point structuring.

One thing I do feel: up to this point we bought in with the knowledge that if we wanted a weekend, we would pay a huge premium. Those who booked weekends KNEW that going in, so why is it more 'fair' now? I bought knowing things could change - I'll deal with it. One way I will deal with it is to look for an outside timeshare that can be traded into DVC, possibly at HH.

I've gradually climbed from studios to one bedrooms and to two bedrooms when I've brought a guest or two. I wanted a BLT add on. Now I feel that the experience is not worth the money through DVC points, so I will explore other options, ie, trades. Change has come.
