POLL: Can we forgive Disneyland?

Can we forgive Disneyland?

  • Yes! We all make mistakes. Bring the parade home.

  • I don't think so. It wouldn't be right. Put it in DCA.

  • OMG. That parade again? Tear it apart. Good riddens.

  • No opinion.

I'm not sure where this concept of forgiving Disneyland comes from, or the idea that they don't know what to do with it, but the MSEP has been said to be returning to DLR from the moment it left.
The slogan when the light parade left Disneyland was for people to see it before it "glows away forever". So they advertised that it would NEVER be back at Disneyland. Because of it, they sold countless items of the last time in history that anyone would see it at Disneyland. People spent lots of money investing in items they intended to sell years later at a premium rate. So lots of people would be upset that their lightbulbs, etc. won't mean as much anymore. Other people would be upset that Disneyland can no longer be trusted. Bringing it back to Disneyland would severly decrease Disney's credibility. These are the things that would need forgiving.

Yes, the plan has been to return to DLR, but Disneyland park is only one facet of DLR. When it was last here, it was at DCA. I would personally like to see it back at Disneyland, which is what this thread is all about.

And the idea that they don't know what to do with it is a direct quote from the recent Al Lutz blog.

I think that it certainly BELONGS on Main Street in DL. I HOPE it comes back...it is a huge part of my early DL memories and I would love for my kids to see it (and for me to see it!).:goodvibes

So those "collectors" are okay with it showing in DCA and MK in WDW, but NOT Main Street. IMHO that just sounds absurd. If it was that big of a deal about it "glowing away" I think it would've been an issue when it came back to DCA, not when it comes back to Main Street.

Absurd, I agree. And, actually, some people did feel cheated when it moved to DCA. BUT, at least it was consistent with Disney's campaign that it would never be at Disneyland again. Nobody could be mad at Disney for integrity, which, along with collectors being upset, is the biggest issue about bringing it back to Disneyland. Disney doesn't want people to think, "You lied to me! You betrayed me!" So, if they were thinking of bringing it home, they would need the security to know that the fans actually wanted it back and would forgive their earlier mistake.

The ELP is one of the things I remember most from my visits as a child, and I haven't seen it for many years. I'd love to see it come back to DL!

I would love to see the Electric Parade back at the DLR. I enjoyed it more at DCA due to the space to spread out the crowds.

I have never seen it as I have only been to Disneyland 4 times starting from 2008. But..............I would love love to see it. My dh shows it to our little girl on youtube and the music is already familar to me. i would prefer it at Disneyland but I'd survive if it was at DCA.

I wonder when they would think of bringing it back.

Gotta say I love both Disneyland and WDW. Disneyland feels like home and WDW like going to my favorite cousins house. I absolutely love the Electric Lights Parade and have seen it in both CA and WDW. I will definitely say that I prefer it to Spectromagic in WDW, that parade just doesn't seem to have the same heart as Electric Lights. I can only just imagine how special it would be to see it in Disneyland:wizard: so please, please, please Disney gods :worship:, bring the parade back to Disneyland the sooner the better!

I have seen the parade I think three times, all while it was at DCA. I loved it, my boys loved it, and we were sad when it wasn't there anymore.

I have no strong affection for it on Main Street, obviously; I don't really care where it goes (DL v. DCA), as long as it comes back. :thumbsup2

As someone who grew up on the East Coast, wishing I could see the Electrical Parade yet knowing it was too far away, then moving to the West Coast only to have it go to WDW, then missing out on seeing it during the brief time it came to DCA -- I'd just like to have the chance to see the darn thing for once!

So I say bring it back!

Your post made me laugh because I can totally relate! It somehow was never running at DLR when I was there, and then it moved to WDW this last time. We are planning to perhaps try WDW before or after next fall's cruise, and I was sooooo looking forward to trying to see it there. And after reading this thread and learning that it may move back, all I can think is that the parade is running away from me!

Note to self - don't go to a Disney park at the same time as Ariel224. :rotfl:

Oh No! Maybe we are going the same time. Will you be gone before the 25th Ariel? I want to see some parades

My family felt just the opposite. We love em both. But we thought MSEP was more whimsical and fun whereas Spectro tugged at the heartstrings a bit more for us. I think it is time for Disney to retire the MSEP for good. I'd like to see an all new light parade at Disneyland. Their best one ever.

Eh, I think it's splitting hairs and trying to stir up something that isn't there.

I own a lightbulb, as do several of my friends. When they brought it back to DCA (yes, yes, I know, it never WAS at DCA before, but still.... they brought it back to DLR), we all sort of looked at each other and said, "Guess they bought new lightbulbs!" :upsidedow

As for "no longer be trusted" and "credibility" - Puh-lease. One word: Duffy.

Nothing needs forgiving.

Disneyland is less than 100 steps from DCA. It's a technicality. And it doesn't matter. Things change. Plans change. Lightbulbs change. Apparently so do stuffed bears.

By the way, when it was at WDW, it went right down Main Street, but we noted that the name on the float still read, "Disney's Electrical Parade." That told us right there that it was coming back, most likely to DCA. Otherwise, they could have changed it back to "Main Street Electrical Parade," because it was, once again, on Main Street --- even if 3,000 miles from the other Main Street. :faint:

And the idea that they don't know what to do with it is a direct quote from the recent Al Lutz blog.
Ah, that explains it. I don't read Al's blog.

Again, Duffy.

People L O V E the Electrical Parade (under whatever name you want to put to it). Bring it to DL, DCA, MK, no one cares. Just bring it.

Aww, now them be fightin' words. :goodvibes;):lmao:

MSEP IS the best one ever. :wizard: - cue music - neeeeeeeeeer, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner.

AAGGHHH!! Now it is stuck in my head!! :lmao:

Seriously, it is just a rumor posted by Al Lutz that Disney is in some kind of quandry about what to do with the parade. We have no idea if it is true or not.

If Disney can close favorite rides and restaurants and still have droves of people trying to get to Disneyland, I don't think they have to worry about goodwill. They can always say the fans wanted it badly and so they decided to bring it back. I am not worried about Disney's PR, they wrote the book on this stuff.

I would absolutely love it if it came back to Main Street! I saw this parade as a kid and although there aren't many things I remember about my few childhood trips to Disneyland (for no reason other than I have a horrible memory), that parade was certainly one of my fondest memories. I even bought an Electrical Parade pin and the CD with the original music from the parade on my last visit to DLR in 2009. The entire 10 minutes of music, complete with character voices is now on my iPod. :goodvibes

I never did see the new parade in DCA, but I was heartbroken when I found out it was being moved to WDW. So I say bring it back!

What? :littleangel: I didn't say but two little words.
:lmao:

- takes ArchOwl's hand as we sing together - neeeeeeeeeer, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner.

You love it by comparison now, don't you?

Thanks to you, the MSEP music was the soundtrack in at least one of my dreams! :scared1:
