The slogan when the light parade left Disneyland was for people to see it before it "glows away forever". So they advertised that it would NEVER be back at Disneyland. Because of it, they sold countless items of the last time in history that anyone would see it at Disneyland. People spent lots of money investing in items they intended to sell years later at a premium rate. So lots of people would be upset that their lightbulbs, etc. won't mean as much anymore. Other people would be upset that Disneyland can no longer be trusted. Bringing it back to Disneyland would severly decrease Disney's credibility. These are the things that would need forgiving.
Eh, I think it's splitting hairs and trying to stir up something that isn't there.
I own a lightbulb, as do several of my friends. When they brought it back to DCA (yes, yes, I know, it never WAS at DCA before, but still.... they brought it back to DLR), we all sort of looked at each other and said, "Guess they bought new lightbulbs!"
As for "no longer be trusted" and "credibility" - Puh-lease. One word: Duffy.
Nothing needs forgiving.
Yes, the plan has been to return to DLR, but Disneyland park is only one facet of DLR. When it was last here, it was at DCA. I would personally like to see it back at Disneyland, which is what this thread is all about.
Disneyland is less than 100 steps from DCA. It's a technicality. And it doesn't matter. Things change. Plans change. Lightbulbs change. Apparently so do stuffed bears.
By the way, when it was at WDW, it went right down Main Street, but we noted that the name on the float still read, "Disney's Electrical Parade." That told us right there that it was coming back, most likely to DCA. Otherwise, they could have changed it back to "Main Street Electrical Parade," because it was, once again, on Main Street --- even if 3,000 miles from the other Main Street.
And the idea that they don't know what to do with it is a direct quote from the recent Al Lutz blog.
Ah, that explains it. I don't read Al's blog.
...Disney doesn't want people to think, "You lied to me! You betrayed me!" So, if they were thinking of bringing it home, they would need the security to know that the fans actually wanted it back and would forgive their earlier mistake.
Again, Duffy.
People L O V E the Electrical Parade (under whatever name you want to put to it). Bring it to DL, DCA, MK, no one cares. Just bring it.
...I think it is time for Disney to retire the MSEP for good. I'd like to see an all new light parade at Disneyland. Their best one ever.
Aww, now them be fightin' words.

MSEP IS the best one ever.
