Poll: Bubbles in line (inspired by HappyMommy2's "worried" thread)

I've never seen the bubbles. It's the water misters that agitate me though. Kids spray their parents, who don't mind. I've had some spray me looking for similar approval. Some parents don't mind that either......

It wouldn't bother me as long as they were not being blown directly at me. I am alergic to some soaps and liquids though so I would probably move out of the way so they wouldn't land on me as I don't really want to come out in a rash when I am enjoying myself but I don't object to it as long as the parents were watching.

Hmm, I guess I'm the odd one. There's no way to control where the bubbles go, and I really would not be a fan of getting any near my eyes.

What do you do in the rides and attractions that have bubbles? Do you not go on the bubble rides?

Bubble, schmubbles! I can't believe people would get annoyed at a child entertaining themself or a parent entertaining their child with bubbles! That's just so weird to me! Have we really become that much of an uptight society that something as silly as BUBBLES! bother people! They're meant to entertain and amuse, not antagonize or hurt anyone!

Why would you automatically assume that it's a way of getting a child to "behave without being contantly entertained"??

My granddaughter blows bubbles while waiting for the parade to begin on the 4th of July up here at the lake.. Does she "have" to? Nope - she just enjoys blowing bubbles and it's fun for her..

Tell me what young child can stand in long line after long line and remain perfectly patient? My toddler didn't want to stand still and is far too young to understand WHY he has to stand still for so long. Bubbles were the perfect way to keep him happy and entertained through the lines. I would love to find an 18 month old who understands patience to that degree.

Since the choices given were either blowing bubbles or a screaming child, I think it was reasonable to assume that allowing the child to blow bubbles was an attempt to keep the kid from screaming.


There's a big difference between blowing bubbles in an open area vs the strict confines of a WDW ride line.

I wish my kids would just stand their quietly, not whining...sigh...but they don't. Is there a secret trick to get them to do this? I am not kidding either! I never realized so many people HATED the bubbles, I even thought I was being good by getting the hypoallergenic ones. I need to let the people over on the Planning boards know about this, they are always suggesting the bubbles to spare parents, and others, the constant noise of video games, etc.

The majority thinks they are fine so I would go with that. If we tried to please the uptight minority on every detail, there wouldn't be children at WDW period.

In a perfect world sure. But even the most well behaved kids have melt downs every once and awhile and if a parent wants to blow some bubbles to keep them quiet I say bring them on.

I don't really mind the bubbles at all. The mister fans I'm not too fond of. Mostly because who knows where the water in those bottles came from, or how long it's been in there! (I guess you could say the same about bubbles but I just assume most bubbles come from the store). Either way it's not going to kill me... so entertain away!

Isn't it supposed to be the happiest place on Earth? I fail to see how anyone would have a problem with little kids blowing bubbles. Have we become THAT sensitive to every little thing? When I first read the title, I thought it was a great idea - wish I had thought to do it when my two were little. I'm almost tempted to bring them to hand out to parents when their little ones are bored or upset. Sounds like fun to me!

Seriously, my kids can be patient and behave, but they get anxious and excited when waiting in line for a ride they really want to go on, they're kids!! Heck DH gets all jumpy and excited waiting for Star Tours.

It's WDW for crying out loud, it's all about having fun! On our last trip to DLP DD and DS met a little boy in line for the train, the place was packed. But the kids were playing and having a great time and not once did we get a dirty look or comments, most people were watching and smiling. My gosh there were kids having fun at a Disney park - holy cow!

That way they don't bother anyone with soap allergies (my neice is allergic to certain soaps).

I'm one with the allergies, so I prefer to not be right next to someone with bubbles (nope, no rides that have bubbles for me..although Disney does use the non allergenic type, and I know it, so I wouldn't panic to get out of the way, if one comes at me LOL). I don't know if the person around me is using the non allergenic so I generaly step out of line, just so I dont' end up itching. Usually a quick stop to the ladies room gets the stickiness off. I have no problem with any kids using bubbles outside, at parades, fantasmic, if there is a way for me to get away. In the smaller confines of inside lines (or almost lines) I generally will remove myself from the line and return later. I don't like it, when the kids are spilling all over the place and my sneaker sticks to the ground and on the ride, until I can rinse off. And I hate touching where the kids touched after they got the bubbles/sticky yicky all over the handrails of the rides. But it's Disney, and I just step aside when I can. I don't see it all that often. More often than not the kids is eating some melty messy ice cream, to keep them happy. making the same type of mess, only now we add the bugs to the mix LOL. Could be worse..they could have one of those ball and paddles to play with (the kind where the ball is attached to the paddle with a rubber band). Now that was annoying as all get out.
