Poll: Akershus Princesses

I voted other. I've never tried it princess-free, but I have to say I loved the princess dinner there so much more than CRT.

So keep the princesses for two meals and leave one free for non-princess folks.

Or something else -- keep it all princess, but have one room for the buffet people were talking about. I'd love to try that.

WHen threads like this come up, it seems that the only people who like the change are those with daughters. Not all of us have daughters, and I don't think that a restaurant like this should change to cater only to those who do. It annoys me.

I think they should at least have one meal princess-free.

Well to make you feel better I have 2 daughters who love the princesses and WE HATED this dinner. It was the most disgusting food we have ever eaten.

We are going back to WDW in July 06 and we plan to stay far away from Akershus!!!

I do think that an in between solution is possible. It is just such a pity that our family will miss out on such fabulous food on our next trip. I even took my 15 yr old here (lover of unhealthy food!) and he couldnt wait to go back a 2nd time. I suppose you could say I feel passionately about this amazing restaurant!

I think people are mad because the princesses were just randomly dumped into Epcot and Akershus. The princesses aren't Norwegian... why are they in that pavilion?there, but it's not always the most pleasant and sedate of atmospheres.

It is that and more -- the price of the meal is now higher (about $10 more for lunch?) because of the princesses. It makes it almost prohibitive to enjoy this food at the current prices, even if you can live with all the hullaballoo going on during the meal.

I disagree that they were randomly dumped - name the castle settings at WDW? Ummm, the big one in MK and the one in Norway. I suppose you could claim that the Biergarten or LeCellier is castle like, but Norway has the castle and that's were Princesses hang out. And there was an economic reason for it too, Akershus was an underutilized venue.

I wish there were lots of more unusual dining options at WDW - Thai and Indian spring to mind, and its a shame to lose Akershus, which did provide something unusual. But unusual hasn't always sold at Disney (though that appears to be changing).

The posts for the OTHER votes seem to say that the OTHER votes see it as okay to keep the princesses for at least one or two meals but not all three. This means there are two ways of combining the results into an either-or vote, though these two ways are not mutually exclusive.

Looked at one way, the vote was 73 to 60 (55% to 45%) to have at least one meal at Akershus be princess-free.

Looked at another way, the vote was 81 to 52 (60% to 40%) to have at least one-meal at Akershus keep the princesses.

So a happy medium is what seems to be preferable to the current all-or-nothing situation.
