I'm a relative newbie to these posts (although I've been reading them for a while), but I couldn't help but notice that some of the signatures contain some strong political leanings.
Now, I am as partison as the next person (I mean, I am a teacher in Western Massachusetts--I'm a victim of my own demographic
), but the aspect that impresses me the most, that despite some pretty intense "apparent" disagreements, members of the DIS boards (and especially the DVC!) are primarily interested in helping each other. I've seen people respond to each other with courtesy and kindness (and with political differences that could, where I live, come to blows).
In my humble opinion (IMHO, so important that I had to spell it out), it is perhaps the most optimistic aspect of this election year.
So, basically, and fundamentally, thanks.

that we can put our differences aside and appreciate things that are important above and beyond like spending time with loved ones and the values that we all share.
