We're growing some Blue Lake Pole Beans in a very small raised bed that we have. We've never tried them before so I'm curious to know if anyone else is growing them, or has grown them, and how well (I hope) they turned out.

They seem to be thriving, and are at least 5' tall. I love green beans, and really hope this works!

Any other pole bean growers? :)

MY FIL grows them every year in West Virginia. I'll be up there in 10 days. Is there anything you want me to ask him? Do you want me to take pics, etc?

We always want pictures, Heather...lol..:) I guess I'm just anxious to see the actual beans appear, and of course, to taste them!! I hope they're yummy! :)

They should be. My grandmother and great-grandmother grew them. I have fond memories of sitting with them and cutting the beans or shelling them for peas. We would sit and talk for hours like that. That's what I call quality time...:D

Awww...that's nice, and you're right, it is quality time. :)

I'm a little concerned that they'll be ready just when we leave to go to the cottage. But, we'll see what happens. It's just when you grow something for the first time, you'd like to see it all the way through. I'm sure you understand what I mean. :)

Absolutely!

Chris and I are leaving soon and for a while, we weren't sure if the stargazers would bloom before we left. He even went up to them and told them to start blooming, cuz he didn't want to hear about it if I missed out...LOL!

It is tough for me to travel when my flowers are blooming. I hate to miss the beautiful results of all my hard work.

Oh, me too...I wish I could bring all my containers with me (all 30something of them)...lol

Heather, why do I feel like we should be making some tea or something...lol..:) :)

LOL! I've got cookies and I could dig up some white gloves somewhere. Nah...we'll just extend our pinkies with our gardening gloves on...:teeth:

The pinkies of my gardening gloves probably have holes in them...lol..:) :)

But I'll gladly take a cookie! :)

You guys are funny tonight! I'm growing pole beans & pole peas for the first time. My peas are doing awesome. I've already harvested and fed them to my family twice. The beans aren't doing as well and I'm not sure why. They are growing but not producing many beans yet. Maybe they are later.

I also grow beans, four kinds. Three bush types, waxed, tender green and Italian flat. I also grow pole beans these are heirlooms seeds. THe beans grow to about 10 inches long and have a nutty taste.

Mine are very slow this year, too much rain and not enough sun. I did pick my first crop of tender green this past week and the others are ready to pick.

I don't do veggies but I'm up for a cookie and tea! :p

Make it coffee, eggs (scrambled), and a couple of strips of bacon, and I'm there! :sunny: ;) ....it is morning now :)

10" long beans, Mamu? Wow! Does that mean you only give everyone 2 or 3 of them at dinner? ;) :)

....I've got a bit of the giggles this morning
