I was in Downtown Disney yesterday and also Trader Sam's. There were tons of people playing it, mostly adults. Yes, I looked at their phones to see if they were playing it.Everyone I ran across (and it was a lot of people) seemed smart and aware of their surroundings. The people not playing it weren't aware of their surroundings and I had to keep dodging them - true story.
Since this game is basically a remake of Ingress, I asked an Ingress player why Ingress was never in the news for all these dangerous things happening to players. Her response was that Pokemon is very popular and therefore has a lot more players, of which there will be more [not smart] people playing who don't pay attention to their surroundings. I concur. I don't think the problems with the game have anything to do with the game, but with the players themselves.
Yeah, this has been a problem long before Pokemon Go, it's just that Pokemon is so popular that the problems are more common. The popularity of Pokemon Go is unprecedented. It's only been out for a week and has more active daily users than Twitter.
