Never having had any dealings with timeshares, I really don't understand the point system and what all it means. Could somebody please explain it to me. I think this might work for our next vacation if i can figure it out. Thanks

Are you asking about purchasing DVC or renting?

Interested in renting for an upcoming family vacation. I just don't know how to interpret the posts about the points. What does it mean in terms of time at the resorts and money?

Read the thread posted in Doc's comments. Pay particular attention to the point Rental Primer, which explains the fundamental of DVC points.

If you have specific questions after that, come back and ask away. Your question about "what does time at resorts and money mean?" is rather vague.

Also, with point rentals in general, there really isn't a refund policy, that is the biggest thing to remember when renting points. It is not like a hotel reservation with a cancellation policy through Disney, and you won't be dealing with Disney if anything comes up with the reservation, you will have to deal with the owner of the points.

It's a timeshare and you are purchasing someone's reservation that they made with their timeshare ownership.
