You can buy points for DVC directly from Disney if you want Saratoga Springs to be your "home". If you want another home, you would have to buy resale. I am unsure of the current incentive. They always have one and the latest one (83.30 a point) just ended. I believe they are running about $98 at SSR. You can make a reservation to stay at a DVC resort if you are paying cash (I believe it is $250-350/night). If you are using points, you have to go through Member Services. You can choose where you want to stay with a few exceptions. If you own at one resort, you can book your stay 11 months out. If you want to go anywhere else, you have to wait until 7 months out.

There is a LOT more info out there about DVC. Let me know if you want the name of my guide. He is great! Everything about Disney is no pressure!

If you want to read more and ask more people, check out the DVC boards here on the DIS. Good luck...feel free to PM me....always willing to help out a fellow Disney bride!!

Yes renting is possible. It would be a private transaction between the owner and the renter...Disney is not involved. The running rate appears to be $10-12 a point depending on how fast the owner needs to get rid of points. Check out the rent/trade board here on the DIS.

Yeah...renting is what we did for all our parents and sisters and brothers and a bunch of our friends. Since the wedding was at the Atlantic Dance Hall it made it cheaper for everyone to stay within walking distance. I own a good number of points but not enough for everyone!! We were able to rent them all for $10 a point each...but it depends on the member you find who has them for rent.

Yes, you can rent points from a member. I own at SSR and VWL. I highly recommend SSR for your honeymoon, which is where i am going for mine, as it has a brilliant spa. But, I don't have any spare points to rent.

If you go the the Disney Vacation Club rent/trade board, right here on this site, you should be able to rent points from another member for around $10 per point. Good luck.

I have a pressing question. If the DVC members are paying about 78 per point how can they rent then at 10 per point?

DVC Members purchase a lease that goes until 2042 or later for SSR members. They recieve a given interest in a DVC Resort in the form of points which are at their disposal and given out yearly.

DVC members buy an interest for $80-$90 per point but can rent for $10 since that is only one years point allotment. They pay $90 per point for the next 36 years worth of points.

Renting works so well since it may only take 17 points to stay in a DVC resort while it costs $250 to pay cash for the same room. The DVC member gets to rent the point and use the cash. For instance, I may rent my points this year to pay for a stay at the Grand Floridian since a room that costs 70 points might be cheaper in cash. Renting points is generally a great deal as long as you stay at a DVC resort.
