points vs cash

If I book a cash reservation and then want to change it to points is that allowed? I may get points transferred from a family member but I don't want to loose the 11 month booking window so I was going to go ahead and book it cash first and then switch when the points come through.

No, you can't "switch", they come from separate room inventories. You would have to cancel the cash reservation and rebook with points, depending on availability.

Cash rooms are separate inventory from points rooms. Only reservations using points can be booked at the 11 month window. So, no, you can't book a cash room and then change it to points. It would be a cancel and rebook, and you would only be able to do it if the room you booked using cash is also available using points. Having one booked does not guarantee availability of the other. Sorry.
