Points vs. Cash ressie ??

Hello!
I am a new DVC member. Thank you to everyone for all of your advice about DVC! I am now looking to book my first ressie. I am looking to go over the long weekend in May but I don't want to use my pts. on the weekend. I was planning on staying Fri./Sat. night using the AP rate and then using my points to stay the following 3 nights. (OKW).

As a DVC member can you get discounted rates at OKW on the weekend through MS or am I better getting the AP rate?

Also will I have to change rooms?? Thank you for your advice!

The member discount is 25%, only on DVC resorts, if available.
A studio at OKW is about $300 a night with 25% off + tax the DVC rate would be about $250 a night (or 24 points) The AP rates as posted on mousesavers.com are $100 off deluxe. So an AP rate would be about $25/night better.

I have done this the past 3 years in May at OKW, 1 bedroom. Used cash for Friday and/or Saturday, then points Sunday thru Thursday. One time I used an AP rate, twice the DVC discount. One thing to keep in mind is when you book the member discount through DVC, it is linked and is treated as one reservation (assuming the room categories are the same). With the AP rate, it is treated separate, you have to check out and check back in. However, you do get full housekeeping for the AP rate. I did not have to move any of the times. I think for a 1 bedroom or larger, the DVC discount would be better since the AP rate is a flat $ off rather than a percentage.
