Points versus Cash at Polynesian?

We are thinking about adding two - three nights at the Polynesian to our stay in October. Is it worth using points? Or would I be better off trying to get an AP or other discounted rate?

you can rent the points for 10 each
do the conversion and get a rate and go from there
I will have to say it is a lot of points to stay at the poly and you will be off paying cash in most cases.
I love the Poly and it will be missed.....
I am considering renting my points from time to time to stay there.

I would look at how you want to use your points. If the Poly is in addition to your normal point use, it is probably better to keep points and go AP code for the Poly.

We look at the points from what our cost is -- the rental difference is not sufficient to compensate me for the time and uncertainty -- and compare that to an AP code. Which is better in that analysis depends on when you bought DVC and how aggressive the AP codes are.
