Points used for cruise that is now cancelled

I used points that were going to expire 4-1-21 for an October 2020 cruise to Canada that will most likely be cancelled. I was going to use those points for a Disney World vacation at a non dvc resort. I was reading and it says that disney collection reservations must be made prior to the last 4 months of of your use year for stays during that use year.

Does that mean I need to make a reservation in like August (4 month prior) for a January trip( less that 4 months till the expiration date)? OR that I need to make a reservation for a November trip since that 4 months prior to the use year ending?

Once points have been converted, the rule of 4 doesn’t apply. Someone said that they extended reservation points too. I would give them a call to find out the exact end date now.
