Yes, transferred points can be banked but they won't follow your use year...they will retain their original resort and UY status.

Whay Granny posts posts is the written rule. In reality it is very variable and there is a good chance that any transfer will be good to the end of your use year. Unfortunately there's no way to know for certain up front.
