Points transfer...when and how would I do this?

I've been looking to use my very small VWL add-on in Dec. 2007. I've banked my 2006 points and will be borrowing the 2008 points, but it looks like I'll still be 6 points short of making my reservation. I am thinking that the best thing to do to insure that I'll be able to make this reservation in January is to rent or trade those 6 points from another VWL member and have them transferred into my account before the 11 month window opens up.

My questions are:
When should I start looking for a willing person to transfer the points?
What do I need to make sure of in regards to the points? (will they have to be 2007 use year points? are there any other use year issues?)
How exactly does the process work?

I would definitely be looking for VWL points, since if I wanted to wait for the 7 month window I could just use some of my BWV points for the additional 6 points. I could make my first 3 nights reservation in January then wait for 7 months to come and get on the wait list. This has worked for me in the past, but I'd really like to be sure to have the additional day.

You will need to have another owner transfer points into a specific Use Year. At this time, no one has received any 2007 points yet, but you could have someone transfer their 2006 points into your 2006 Use Year and then bank the points into the next UY- or your could have someone transfer their 2007 points into your '07 UY.

WOW!! I didn't know that you can bank transferred points?! Did they change that?

FYI......With DVC enforcing the transfering rule, it may be hard to find a member willing to give up their one transfer for the year for a 6 point transfer.

Yes, you can bank transferred points. I just did this last week because I'm planning a family reunion for December 2007 and with banking and borrowing from 2008, I still needed more points. I have an Oct UY contract at BWV. I transferred in points from someone currently in their 2006 BWV UY and when my 2006 UY starts, I'll bank them to 2007. I checked with MS before having the points transferred in.

Inkmahm, we're doing sort of the same thing at VWL....banked our 2006, using our 2007, and borrowing 2008 to use in December 2007. Right now I'm wishing I had just bought 2 more points with that add-on.

I've been a member since 2000 and have never transferred so much as a point...I suppose that there are plenty of members just like me out there. But at the worst I can just go to plan B, which has worked for me in the past.

I do think the one transfer in or out is kind of extreme....makes trading points pretty much impossible unless you trade reservations. But like I said, I've never transferred points before and never had a need to.
