Points transfer issues...Maybe we shouldn't buy into DVC

After surfing these boards for quite a while I've come to a conclusion that concerns me...As I've mentioned previously my wife and I are seriously considering buying into DVC sometime in the next 12mos. My wife is a teacher and basically has 2 weeks over Xmas and Jul 1 - Aug 31 available. We love WL (and would want to make VWL our home resort) and love going at Xmas (not opposed to summer travel but would prefer Xmas likely 5 out of 7 years). My concern has to do with members transferring points from one resort to the other and then being able to use all points at the home resort 11 months out (ie., OKW points are transferred to VWL and become VWL points). This could/would create a situation were a resort could have greater than a 100% of it's original total point allotment thereby making peak times that much harder to reserve (especially if these people are renting out their points to folks specifically looking for peak times). I think Disney needs to corect this ASAP.

Question is...in light of this issue should we consider a larger resort with a lesser Xmas demand than VWL or even hold off buying in until Disney corrects this issue? Or are we making a mountain out of a mole hill? :confused3

Thoughts please...

If you make your reservations day-by-day at the 11 month mark you should have no problem at any of the resorts, so I personally would not worry about it if I were able to make reservations at the 11 month mark.

When points are transferred, they are suppose to maintain their home resort and use year, and not 'morph' into a different home resort. This is clearly stated in the POS.

Due to the computers they are using, CM's must currently make a manual notation concerning point transfers, and record the point's home resort, but this was not always effective.

The changes they have made recently regarding transfers was one step toward correcting this problem.

I'm certain they are also working on their computer systems to prevent point morphing. This would then never allow more than 100% of actual home resort points ever being available at the home resort 11-month window.

If you prefer VWL then you should buy there.
