Points that cannot be used for villas

We bought through resale a few months ago and when we were told the points available it was never mentioned that the previous owner had * points that had to be used on an exchange, disney collection, etc by * because they had booked a dvc collection stay and then cancelled or something. We weren't shorted or anything we got all the points in the contract we just didn't know these existed. Is there a way to rent these or even any market for them? Thanks so much!

There isn't much of a demand, I would look at the disney collections near you and see if maybe you wanted to get a night or two away.

While you weren't shorted, if these were advertised as available, I would talk to your broker and find out why it wasn't disclosed, since these can't be used at DVC it could be a breach of the contract.....

If these are just "extra" that wasn't disclosed in the contract, enjoy them somewhere!

Are they reservation points from the Disney collection, or are they points deposited in RCI?

If they are Disney collection points, they can only be used for exchanges to non-DVC Disney resorts or a cruise. Maybe you could book something for friends?

Can't those points be used at Disneyland for either Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier Hotel?

they are reservation points so they can be used at non-dvc disney resorts. We have 100 points and they expire May 31, 2011.

As noted, unless they were above and beyond what was quoted, you were short changed in a way. My impression from your post was that these were truly extra points. I would simply use them toward a cruise, concierge collection or disney collection room.

they were extra. We had no idea they existed when we were going through resale so it was a nice bonus. I'm not sure if we will be able to use them or not before May we are still trying to work on options that is why I just thought I would check to see if there was ever a market to rent these.

I think there is a way to rent them, but with the shorter time frame, you will have some issues. I'd give it a try though. Lots of times you see people wanting to stay at the regular resorts for points. The biggest problem is that 100 points doesn't go far in the non-DVC world. I guess optimally, I'd try to use them yourself by tacking on a couple extra days somewhere.
