Hi all. I think I know the answer to this but I thought I'd ask since DVC was returning points because of weather delays. Would DVC return points because of a child or family being diagnosed with the flu?

I don't think so - that's why they put the trip insurance flier in your reservation paperwork when they mail it to you (provided that insurance even covers something like that - I have never looked into it).

I didn't think so but with them returning points because of all the weather delays I thought I'd ask. Not that it matters, because I wouldn't have purchased it, but I just got 3 DVC reservation confirmations in the mail last week and none had insurance paperwork in them.

Thanks for the response.

Sorry to hear your daughter has the flu. From reading the DisBoards most posters that had to cancel their trips meant their points then go into an holding account. So if you have to cancel within 30 days your points would go into a holding file as well.

From the member website:
Changing a reservation 30 days-1 day prior to check-in:
All Vacation Points will be placed in the Holding Account. If the new reservation uses fewer Vacation Points than the original reservation, the remaining Vacation Points will stay in the Holding Account until the end of your Use Year.

You can use these Vacation Points for a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation during your current Use Year as long as you book the reservation 60 or less days before the new check-in date.

I just spoke to DH and he said each of our two reservations have had an insurance flyer in with the confirmation letter.

I think they stopped sending the insurance flyers with the ressie confirmations. I kept one from an old ressie. You can reach Travel Guard at 1-866-690-6858.

Member Service deals with things case by case as well. If you feel you have a valid point, send a letter to Member Satisfaction. You may or may not get the answer you want, but I think it's worth a try.

I remember looking into insurance for a DVC trip but I had to put in the price of the vacation to get a quote and didn't know how to do that with points so I stopped looking and just never went back. :confused3

We'll see how it goes and how she's feeling on Tues. I doubt they'd reverse the points. They would just put them in the holding acct I think. Which is fine since we are going again in May BUT I have the AKV 1BR Value booked and I really don't want to loose that by canceling and rebooking with the holding points. I doubt that would work.

Here's hoping that she's feeling better and the rest of us squeak by without it. :thumbsup2
