Can borrowed points be transfered?
I had originally borrowed points from my next use year for a ressie this use year, but now I have to cance the trip. I know I can no longer bank the points I borrowed, but I was wondering if they could be transfered to another DVC owner.

:confused3

No borrowed points cannot be transferred. You will have to rent out your points to someone.

Also, don't forget that borrowed pts can be used for exchanges...so if you don't want to try to rent them out, maybe that's an option for you instead of just letting them expire.

That's a danger of borrowing points. I've paid for cash nights rather than borrowing points in the past, that was the reason (at the time I had a mom who was terminally ill).

Calypso,

What do you mean by excanges?
Say I had another reservation, and that reservation was made with unborrowed point. Could I swap out the points?

No, what I was referring to were the II (Interval International) exchanges. Basically you'd take those borrowed pts and try to do an exchange with them...but it would really depend on how many points you're talking about and whether or not there is anywhere else you'd like to try and stay -- Hawaii, Mexico, etc.

Potentially you could use the borrowed points and free up points you could bank, it would depend on specific factors.

These might include whether or not there was a waitlist. What you would have to do is cancel the stay and rebook using the borrowed points.

Yes and no. It actually is per day so if there was not a wait list for a given day you could certainly make the substitution that day and free up those points. And this is where DVC's inconsistency comes into play as well. Technically each such change is supposed to be a cancellation and rebooking but it varies with who you talk to and to a degree, what the home resort points are. Often in this situation they will sub the points even if there is a wait list.

mfortis, do realize there is a small chance you could lose your reservation trying to do this while they are making the switch.
