Hi
Why would someone buy disney points from a more expensive resort eg: Wilderness Lodge- when a person can get a much better price at say a vero Beach?

The idea is that you buy points at your "home" resort because that is where you plan on staying the most. At your home resort you have the advantage of booking a stay at 11 months prior to arrival as opposed to booking at 7 months prior to a arrival at other resorts. You have a better chance at getting what you want and when you want it with the 4 months advantage.

VB (and to a lesser extent HH) also have higher annual maintenance fees. when you figure that out over 35ish years, you'd wind up paying significantly more for VB than VWL. (currently $.90 higher per point per year.)

your upfront cost per point is not the biggest factor in how much you'll pay for a contract...

and, as grumpy uncle points out, that can really hurt your feelings if you have trouble finding availability in one of the orlando resorts...

edited to add: be sure to check out some threads on the DVC boards...you can learn a lot over there. (this question, for example, comes up fairly routinely.)

I'll keep my BWV points. Love booking there at the 11 month booking.

Honestly I own at both HHI and OKW and the 7 month window versus the 11 month window has never effected us. I would rather purchase at a cheaper price and be able to purchase more points.
