We haven't even closed yet ( just found out passed ROFR ) early this week but I started to play with how to use the points

How do you decide what to do? With the banking & borrowing, room size choice, do you stay for weekends, which resort, etc. the options are amazing :earseek:

With our Marriott, you just call and reserve your week and you are done.

My oh my...DVC is a totally new way of vacationing:p

It is certainly a new way to vacation. Actually its an old way to vacation just a new way to pay for it ;)

We love the fact that we adapt our points and length of stay to how many friends we are bringing with us or how lavish we want to be for ourselves. Sometimes its fun to have a two bedroom all to yourself for a week...

At other times its more fun to stretch a studio into several weeks. At some point I think the security guard thought we might have been cast members we had been around so long.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it quickly. Just don't do what I did and go crazy one year borrowing all of next years points. First of all you can't put them back into their original use year and secondly, you're going to miss them when they aren't around next year...

Have fun,

Joshua

That's the beauty of DVC, where you can still call and reserve your week just like your Marriot if that's what you want. But you can also decide to book any combination of dates and room sizes that work for you and your points. I think as you get more used to the DVC system, you'll find the flexibilty of the point system to be a definite plus. Congratulations on your resale!

It's easy ... just decide when you want to go, how long you're going to stay, and how many beds you need. Accomodations taken care of -- now it's time to move onto Priority Seating requests!!!

planning download...could someone post the link?

We found it really helpful, and FUN!!:D

:sunny:

Planning your vacation and deciding the location is 90-percent of the fun for me.::yes::

The other 10-percent is stalking these boards looking for great ideas.:earsboy:

I have downloaded Caskbill's program which is just fantastic!

Thats what I was doing last night before my post...playing with all the different scenarios :p

I just want to "show" my DH how smart he is to let me buy DVC:teeth:

Congradulations!! I wonder how many DVC members there are from Hawaii. It my dream vacation one day to visit Hawaii. How long of a plane flight is it to Orlando for you?

Disney4ever4569: Thanks for the reply! The plane trip is apprx. 10 hours. Not the easiest thing to do with 3 kids but since you have to get on a plane to go anywhere, our kids are used to traveling and love it! Our last WDW trip was 2 years ago when the boys were 4 and 6 and they did really well. This time around we have a 5 month old so we'll see

I don't know how many Hawaiians own DVC but I'm sure its not too many due to the distance. But we just love WDW and that's where we want to go.

You definitely have to come to Hawaii :sunny: If you have any questions just let me know!

Congratulations :)

Caskbill is working on a major update to manage contracts as well. I currently use this program (http://hometown.aol.com/dmfredrick/Download.html) to manage my contracts and Caskbill's to plan vacations.

We are going to Hawaii this September. A few days on Waikiki Beach and a week in Maui. The trip is certainly one long travel day!

JimC: Thanks for the link...I'll check it out!

When will you be in Maui? We'll be there for a quick weekend trip from Sept. 12-14 staying at the Westin Kaanapali. Maybe we will see you there :wave2:
