I have a question about points in holding. I am considering a resale add on contract which has 100 points in holding. I was thinking that it would be no problem to use these points before they expire in June 2003. But, then I was wondering--can these points only be used on Disney property within 60 days of arrival or can they be used as an exchange (w/i 60 days)? I was thinking for example of staying at the Plaza Hotel in NY... But then, I was thinking maybe that isn't even possible....

TIA

I think you can - but kept in mind if you cancel your New York then you would have to stay in another hotel at WDW not a DVC resort.

Just make sure you do it on the 60 day mark. I would also call member services and ask just to be sure.

I had points (180) in holding from last October when I had to cancel a trip post 9/11 until we used them in August. I know they have the 60 day rule, but I booked a reservation in April that used a total of 400 points including the 180 (5 days at Yacht Club and 5 days at Vero) and DVC managed it so the timing of the points in holding never became an issue. They just had to be used by the end of use year in November. So I didn't look at them as having to be used separately by themselves.....I just incorporated them into a longer trip and it was easy.
