Points Loaded Incorrectly

I just had points added to a new resale contract today and it looks like they were loaded incorrectly.

They gave me 75 current year (Dec 2020 points) and 150 2019 points (banked into 2020 and expiring Nov 30, 2021)

The resale contract I purchased said there would be 75 points from 2019 banked into 2020 and full 150 in 2020. So either Disney loaded it wrong, or the broker listed it incorrectly and/or estoppel verification failed as well.

Who at DVC actually loads the contracts? Who is the best person/dept to contact about this potential mix-up? Anyone have an email address? I'd rather not spend hours on hold to get this figured out.

Thanks!

I’d contact your broker and title company first and then go from there to MS.

MS does the loading of the points after they receive information from MA.

I would reach out to MS first as they will be the first ones you will be able to talk to since MA is still email only. At the same time, contact title and broker.

“The resale contract I purchased said there would be 75 points from 2019 banked into 2020 and full 150 in 2020.”

I don’t think it’s possible to have more than 150 points for 2020 since you can only bank one year forward. What happens when you are on the manage vacation points screen? A screen shot would help if possible.

If the 2019 were all banked into 2020, but only 75 2020.. owner could have transferred or borrowed back...you could have what the OP states is there which would show 225 in the 2020 UY.

You are right, I didn’t think about that.

Showing I'm able to bank 75 points into 2021. Showing 150 banked into 2020 from 2019, and those will expire Nov. 30, 2021. So I have 225 in UY 2020, but I can only bank 75 into 2021...

Contract said 75 2019 pts had been banked into 2020 and would expire Nov 2021. Full 150 of UY 2020 allotment was available.

I'm hoping Disney just mixed it up. I think it'd be easier to get this fixed than if the contract/broker/title company did it wrong.

Update: I talked to Member Services. They confirmed that points were loaded correctly. Previous owner banked all 150 2019 points prior to banking deadline (Jul 2020). Then borrowed 75 points in October 2020 (before start of Dec UY in 2020). Because banked points can't be borrowed back, it was the 2020 UY points that were borrowed for use Oct 2020, leaving 150 banked in from 2019 and 75 remaining in UY 2020.

I guess now I have to go back to the broker and title company and see what they say. Anyone have any experience with point discrepancies? What sort of remedies are available? I'm not sure what's reasonable and what I should be asking for, though I'm not super thrilled that 75 more points are set to expire in November than I had originally planned.

Member services should move them back for you since borrowed points were suppose to be returned.

Look at your contract to see what it says the resolution is.

your contract should have a clause for missing points. I know this isn't technically "missing" points since they are there just in the wrong year, but I would lean pretty heavily on it because the 2020 UY points ARE missing (you just have some extra banked points that weren't stated). I know my contract said compensation of $10/pt would be given. Now whether the seller is willing to cooperate is another matter..

I am sorry it was not listed correctly, I would first look to see if there is a clause and if not, then I would ask for something related to that $15/pt which is around average for rentals right now.

Great suggestions, thank you! Contract doesn't specify an amount for missing points, but I think I will start out asking for $19/pp since that's what Disney would charge for one time use points I could use to make up for the points after they expire.
Please keep us updated!

Interesting update: I heard back from the broker and the seller correctly disclosed the amount of points available for each use year. It was the broker who mistakenly wrote up the listing and contract for purchase. Broker has admitted the mistake and asked how to make it right. I started out asking for $19/pp. Haven't heard back yet....
