Just guaging interest here....

I may have over 700 points "in reservation status" (expire 4/1/06) that I would be looking to trade for DVC points. You can use all of the points at any resort offered by the DVC EXCEPT DVC properties themselves. So other Disney hotels like Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom are available.

I have a very young family of 5 (7 if you include the in-laws!) so a 2BR villa would be very nice to have with the kitchen and seperate bedrooms. I could use the points as is for 2 standard rooms but it would be less comfortable for us.

I have read that for DVC members to use DVC points for non DVC resorts is generally not a good idea. For example a Deluxe Savannah room at AK during Peak Season would cost 448 points, a Lagoon view at Grand Floridian would cost 534 points for a week in Peak Season etc. The 2005 rack room rates for these rooms are $445 per night (plus 11.5% tax) and $555 (plus 11.5%) respectively. Therefore you are better off selling points at $10 per and making cash reservations correct? You would need to sell 347 points to get the week at AK and 431 points to get the week at grand floridian.

How easy do you think it would be to offer say 700 points in reservation (expire April 2006) in exchange for 350 points at BCV in order to get a 2BR villa in March?????

I think that would make a good trade for someone. I would give thought if I had BCV points. Best of luck to you, I'm sure that should work out!

Cheers :cool1:

oh, i would have probably have traded, but with my ressies i just made for christmas, i dont have quite 350. you may not have a hard time booking at the 7 month, plus the weekends will be available, points are high and some members dont like to use their points for the weekend. i think you can transfer the reservation points, keep in mind you can only transfer either IN or OUT per use year. that will be another issue with your points.

You will have better luck with this post on the DVC Rent/Trade Board so I am moving this post to that Board. Hopefully you will find a trade. Good Luck

Actually, RESERVATION POINTS can't be transferred. you would have to make the reservations for the renting or trading party.

Actually, a discussion about reservation points is better on the DVC Board since the Rent/Trade Board is not a discussion forum.

Once a decision has been made about offering these points for rental or trade, please post the details on the Rent/trade. Until then, discussion about what options are available will be better served on the DVC board.

The Disneyland Hotel has some great costs right now for those DVC points. People can get rooms for under 25 points per day depending on when you go.

You might want to advertise the points at $6 per point. Sell them all off, then buy back points at $10. This should net you approx. 420 points, which would be an improvement over the 350 in your offer.

Your value is about right, 2 to 1. Less if they were expiring sooner. To rent, about $5 per point or less depending on specifics and lead time.
