Just guaging interest here....
I may have over 700 points "in reservation status" (expire 4/1/06) that I would be looking to trade for DVC points. You can use all of the points at any resort offered by the DVC EXCEPT DVC properties themselves. So other Disney hotels like Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom are available.
I have a very young family of 5 (7 if you include the in-laws!) so a 2BR villa would be very nice to have with the kitchen and seperate bedrooms. I could use the points as is for 2 standard rooms but it would be less comfortable for us.
I have read that for DVC members to use DVC points for non DVC resorts is generally not a good idea. For example a Deluxe Savannah room at AK during Peak Season would cost 448 points, a Lagoon view at Grand Floridian would cost 534 points for a week in Peak Season etc. The 2005 rack room rates for these rooms are $445 per night (plus 11.5% tax) and $555 (plus 11.5%) respectively. Therefore you are better off selling points at $10 per and making cash reservations correct? You would need to sell 347 points to get the week at AK and 431 points to get the week at grand floridian.
How easy do you think it would be to offer say 700 points in reservation (expire April 2006) in exchange for 350 points at BCV in order to get a 2BR villa in March?????
