Points in holding

I just returned from a visit to the mouse. I had a reservation at the Grand and changed it to the Beach Club at the last minute. That created holding account points. I chatted with MS asking if I could switch the holding account points for a reservation that is currently booked which will occur before the holding account points would have expired. I was told that they will be able to switch the points at 60 days prior to the reservation date. I never heard of that rule before. Is that a real rule or some accommodation?

It is a rule. Holding points can only be applied to bookings within 60 days. If they permit it without the unit being available for public booking it is a kindness, as by rule it is "used within 60 days for a new booking."

It seems that this is also working online for people. They have been able to swap out holding points into a reservation they have.

It certainly makes holding less of a penalty for those of us who have multiple reservations booked.

The rule is to keep members from cxl within 30 days from ci (last minute). Assist us who need / want to make plans.
You cxl'd last minute so you can only use them last minute.

Yes, the online booking tool takes points in holding first, so once you get within 60 days, you simply rebook the reservation you already have.
