If you have to cancel a vacation and your pts go into holding can you use them to book a vacation in the future?

Holding Account details from the member website:
A Holding Account is a "parking space" for Vacation Points from a Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation that has been modified or cancelled 30 days to 1 day before your scheduled check-in date. Here are some guidelines regarding usage of Holding Account Vacation Points.
  • These Vacation Points can be used for a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation during your current Use Year as long as the reservation is booked 60 or less days before the new check-in date.
  • These Vacation Points can also be used for a new reservation during your current Use Year in two ways:
    • For the Disney Collection* (except Disneyland Resort in California and Tokyo Disney Resort hotels), Concierge Collection*, or Adventurer Collection*, you can make the reservation more than four months before the end of your Use Year for a check-in date that is 60 or less days before the new check-in date.
    • For Disneyland Resort in California and Tokyo Disney Resort hotels, or the World Passport Collection, as long as the reservation is booked 60 or less days before the new check-in date.
    * Available when you purchase directly from Disney.
  • These Vacation Points cannot be banked or borrowed.
  • These Vacation Points must be used by the end of the Use Year or they expire.

I think once they go into holding, they are no longer bankabke (so you need to use them before they expire at the end of their use year).

I know that you can only use them to book up to 60 days out. (So, no 11 month window or 7 month window, or even 6 months out ... 2 months advance planning tops.)

The second bullet on the web site is a little cryptic, in my opinion. What it's trying to say is that you can use holding account points for other collections, but the rule of four still applies.

The rule of four (which is for all bookings, not just those using holding account points) states that you cannot both book and travel within the last four months of your use year for Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection, and Disney Collection (with the exception of Disneyland California hotels). You can travel to these destinations in the last four months of your use year, but you have to have booked it in the first eight months. For example, if you have an August use year, you cannot call Member Services in April, May, June, or July to make a Concierge, Adventurer, or Disney Collection reservation in April, May, June, or July. You would have had to have made the reservation in March or before.

For a holding account booking, you can't book more than 60 days in advance.

These two rules taken together make it difficult to use holding account points for anything other than a DVC or World Passport reservation if you are late in your use year. You can't book them more than 60 days in advance of when you want to travel, and you can't book Concierge, Adventurer, or Disney collection reservations within the last four months of your use year.
