points in holding question

Just wondering if anyone has had the experience of being able to get ressie's on points in hold. We had to cancel a much needed vacation this coming Thanksgiving due to some health problems I'm having (the disappointment for me is overwhelming - I really needed the relaxation of this vacation - oh well - such is my life). Anyway, we are hoping to be able to go in February (President's week) in a one bedroom (maybe two) standard view at BWV, but our points are now in holding, and I am wondering what our chances are for getting a ressie at 60 days out for this time period. Any input is greatly appreciated - I wish I could stop crying......

I think you have some chance for a reservation for a 1BR in February but I doubt you will be able to get a standard view room with 60 days notice for that very popular week. I do think you might be able to get a 1BR someplace though. Call MS and ask how things look for that period. That will give you some idea of whether you need to even think about it.

I read on these boards recently that someone got a reservation with their holding points but it wasn't during a vaction week and it wasn't for a standard view.

My bet would be to try for a one bedroom at OKW. A wonderful resort, very relaxing, maybe just what you need. You can park right outside your door. And you wouldn't use as many points as a preferred reservation at BWV. Even SSR might have another building opened by then and the points would be lower than a preferred view at BWV. Plus you would be close to DTD.

We had points go into holding this summer when relatives left early and didn't let us know until the week before our trip. We decided we'd like to try visiting WDW in December and enjoying the Christmas festivities, but couldn't try for a reservation until Tuesday, Oct. 19th. I worried for months that we wouldn't be able to get a thing, however we were able to get a 1 BR for the days we wanted at OKW. We asked to be on the waitlist for BWV and three days later got the call our waitlist was available. When I called to verify that we did want the waitlist - they informed me SS was available. I thought that was strange since we didn't waitlist for SS, but we took it anyway so that we'd be near DD and to know for sure that the main pool would be available. So, the holding account worked for us, but it was really hard waiting all those months worrying whether it would work or not.
