points in holding-details please (sorry long)

I'm having a hard time understanding this. We are on waitlists for late june. It's a split stay so either waitlist could come through (or neither). We're hoping for both, which would make our entire vacation in a 1 bed at Kidani. (Right now we are in a 2 bed at Kidani then a 2 bed at BWV).

I have 2 more weeks until the 30 day mark. Could I stay on the waitlist longer? What would happen to the extra points.

For example,
-first ressie is 160 points
-Waitlist is 118 points

Do the 42 points go into holding if waitlist comes through after the 30 day mark? What does the 60 days mean?--I thought I couldn't use them for 60 days. But it sounds like I could ONLY use them in april/may of 2010.
What are the restrictions in using them. The points are 2008 points/June use year that were carried over.

uuuggh! as I'm typing this I'm getting frustrated because it may be more complicated???? These are banked points that --if our waitlist comes through--I would want the extra 2008 points to go on the BWV ressie. BWV is booked with remaining 2008 banked points but mostly 2009 points that I could carry over for our 2010 vacation. Thanks so much!!!

Yes, you can stay on the WL until 7 days before your reservation but you need to call MS to extend the WL if that's what you want.

For example,
-first ressie is 160 points

Yes. If your WL comes through at 30 days prior to your reservation or later then any extra points will go into the holding account. So if you DON'T want the possibility to having the WL match and having your points go into holding you need to cancel the WL 31 days before your reservation starts.

What does the 60 days mean?--I thought I couldn't use them for 60 days. But it sounds like I could ONLY use them in april/may of 2010.

You may use holding account points to book for reservations within 60 days of when you call to make that reservation. So, if you had holding points and called today you could oly use them for reservations through June 10th. I don't know if all days need to be in the 60-day timeframe or just the check-in day.

I don't think they will juggle points for you like that . You might be able to get away with that if dates at the front or the back of the BWV reservation are still available through MS. You may be able to book those dates with your holding points and then cancel those days off your BWV reservation, releasing the 2009 points.

Thanks, I will cancel the WL at 31 days. Our next vaca will be summer 2010 for a large group and I need to make ressie at 11 months. I don't want to take a chance having to wait to the 60 day mark.

Yes the 2008 UY points were banked and have to be used by June 2010, so I wanted the rest of the 2008 points to go on the BWV reservation, saving the 2009 points for banking. We will not be going until July 2010. Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions!
