Points help

Hi,

Im a DVC member I have points that have to be used before **.... Im from Australia and I dont know what I have to do.... I missed my banking window... I have ** Banked from last use year and ** from this use year which ends on **.

any help would be great.

I think your only option is to try to rent or offer to transfer the points to another member (although you can't transfer the set of points that are banked). There is a lot of information on the Rent and Trade boards on how to do that.

If a rental does not work, You can try to call MS. There have been a few reports of MS allowing a one-time grace exception to the banking policy so you do not loose the ** current points. (I do not think they can do anything with the ** already banked points, though)

There is always a market for transfers and rentals it is just a matter of what you will get for the points and how much “work” you want to do.

For your protection and for the comfort of whomever you would be working with since you are “out of the country” you might want to look into paypal as a funding transfer method.

As others have said the sticky info in the rent/transfer boards is the best place to start.

I agree whole heartedly that you should call MS. They will present you with any and all options open to you. If I am not mistaken I think you can have them deposited into an RCI vacation trade which will give you another year or two to use your points through an RCI destination. Better than losing them all together!!!

The points already banked are as good as lost if you don't use them before the end of **.

Although we call it "renting points" you are really making a reservation for someone else and renting them that reservation. So there is no problem "renting" banked points because all you are doing is making a reservation with them. The problem you will run into will be availability since you will have to find someone who wants to go between now and the end of ** and who is willing to take whichever resort is still available for their dates.
