Points from Different Resorts

Hello everyone! We are new DVC members who just signed up on a cruise we were on last month. Since we have four kids, we decided to make up multiple contracts so that if me and hubby kick the bucket, they would each get the same number of points in their name. The problem is.....we have four kids and only three contracts of 100 each. Splitting them into a group of less than 100 seemed silly, and we could really only swing for 300 points at this time. We absolutely are planning on adding one more contract of 100 points as soon as we can.

So here is my question....the 300 points we have are at Grand Floridian. How will it effect booking to have an additional 100 points at another resort if we end up going that route? I am assuming I can only book the 11 months outs for the home resort no matter what....so would I have to go back later and add days with the rest of the points and just hope they are available?

if you buy 300 pts at VGF and add-on 100 pts at BLT and want to book BLT at 11 months out, it will be like you don't even own at VGF as you can only use pts from the new BLT contract.

the same if you are trying to book VGF at 11 months out...you can only use pts from the VGF contract.

assuming you are adding-on under the same membership, you can combine pts at 7 months out to book whatever is still available.

I know it's silly but I would have gotten the points in 25 increments. Then it would be easy to divide between the 4 kids. Granted, it would have added another 1k to the price in closing costs....

Yes, you'd only have 300pts to book VGF at 11m. Points from other resorts can only be combined at 7m. For popular DVC times, it will be hard to get VGF at 7m.

You also have the issue of who gets which resort. If all the kids like VGF, what happens to the one that get the other resort? I'd consider buying a bit more points to compensate, if you end up buying an older resort
