So, our first DVC contract loaded overnight and with it there are 200 points for 2020 (March UY) which cannot be banked. I believe these will expire today, is there anything we can do with them? I’m guessing not but thought best to check just in case!

First of all, I'd take a chance and call MS today and plead your case. You never know! If that doesn't work, you can deposit them into RCI which is better than losing them completely. Good luck!

Thank you. I thought we might have been too late for RCI so that’s great, anything is better than nothing. Will give MS a call and see what they can do, thanks!

Yeah, I would plead the case with member services, if that doesn't work, see if you can deposit into RCI. If it's too late to deposit with RCI, you can still make some sort of booking for up to 2 years out in RCI to get some sort value out of those points.

Good Luck, and let us know how it turns out.

Great3

I'm pretty sure RCI deposits must be made 45 days prior to points expiration.
There may still be some "late deposit " options. If so, they would come with booking restrictions, but perhaps those would be better than just letting the points expire.

Were you expecting those points? Are they previously banked points?

We purchased a Copper Creek contract in January. It included 2020 points with an April use year. When I spoke to our salesperson and told him we couldn’t use them and I couldn’t bank them online, he said to call member services and they could bank them for us, which they did.

That's because you purchased directly from Disney. That courtesy is not extended to those who purchase via resale.

I would try and sell them if you can’t do anything else with them, but hopefully you’ll be able to bank them with member services .

So, we're in a 'wait and see' situation it would seem.

MS filled out a form for us and submitted this for approval to have the points extended. We haven't heard anything as yet but have been told it might take a week or two, so keeping our fingers crossed. But if nothing comes of it we're no worse off. I'll keep you posted if they appear in our account!

Hoping for some pixie dust, OP! MS banked points that were received past the bank deadline for us a few years ago, but we were only a few days past the bank date. It would be helpful, IMO, if the resalers would request owners to bank points prior to sale.

As a buyer, I have always requested it if I thought it was close. I did this summer

The problem with making it a hard rule is that some buy with the expectation to use And if a broker requested it as practice contracts would need to be listed differently.

I know the contracts that go up for sale at the first of the year are sometimes from distressed owners who, possibly, couldn't bank, bc of being in arrears on dues. So, I can certainly see why it couldn't be a rule to bank prior to resale. But, it did stress me out when I thought I had "plenty" of time to bank, but bc ROFR was slow, followed by a not-so-quick closing, I found the points in my account after the deadline to bank. MS was very nice, though, and it was done rather quickly, iirc.
