Points add-on, cash room reservation?

Of course, the one day I need my guide, she's on vacation! I am trying to see if anyone knows if you add points, can your guide book a cash room for you through Disney using your new points if the DVC rooms are sold out? In the past, she mentioned they could if it was a new membership but I don't know if they do that for add-ons.

We would like to stay at DVC this coming weekend using points we buy early this week but there is nothing available in a studio. We would be buying BLT, and cash rooms are available on the Disney site - just wasn't sure if this "perk" is for new members only.

Since it's at BLT - a new resort still with developer inventory, your guide may be able to work some Disney magic. It's certainly worth asking before you complete the purchase.

Well, I heard back from my guide about 5pm and the answer was..."Uh, no." You have to be buying for the first time. I even let her know that nothing else was available to see if that would help but that didn't help. Looks like I may be making a cash reservation - rather use that money toward points, though.
