Points Across Seasons

How does it work if you book a room across 2 different seasons? I’m looking at 2018 Thanksgiving. The 21-23 are Magic but the week after are Choice. Is there an easy way to tell the point total for a stay from 11/23 - 11/30?

Add the points required for each day. I am pretty sure that MS will have to book the reservation for you or you can book separate reservations online and MS can join them later.

When planning future trips, I often use the calculator on our forum sponsor's website. It shows the points for all Resorts for a particular set of dates.

It also shows cost in dollars (for those who want to rent a DVC reservation) so you'll need to select the point option.

For your dates, the calculator shows that a studio costs between 72 and 161 points, depending on resort & booking category.

This part only applies if the stay crosses your Use Year, which an 11-23 to 11/30 reservation would not.

I often book across seasons and have had no trouble at all doing it online. The only time you may need MS to help book is if your stay crosses use years.

For example, if I wanted to stay 11/27 - 12/4 and had a December use year, I might have to call MS to add the December nights after I booked the November nights online when the 11 month window opened. To book the December nights online, the system (due to a glitch) would make me wait until the window opens for 12/1.

Shouldn't be a problem booking online across season, we did it last year. Several of the apps will do it for you automatically (I use DVC Calculator for the IPhone). Or you can just do it manually.

DVC stays are nightly points, not a week or anything like that. So if the night is in the Magic season it is those amount of points. If the night is in adventure season then it's those point requirements.

I just use the RAT (resort availability tool) to figure out total points for the stay. Plug in your dates on RAT, if availability is full or nothing it tells you total points. If availability is partial you just have to add up each night as previously mentioned.

I wish they wouldn’t show weekly at all, because it’s confusing for situations when you’re not booking that exact sort of week.
