Pointless to waitlist Christmas week?

We are new owners so I'm not that familiar with waitlisting/availability, etc. We already had a vacation package ressie (at YC) for Dec 23rd through 30th. We have until November 8th to pay off or cancel this package.

Is it pointless to try and waitlist for a studio or 1 BR for this week (with or without the first or last day)? It doesn't really sound like there is any chance of anything opening up the week of Christmas.

And we really like the 1 BR idea...washer/dryer, dishwasher SIGH! Should we pay cash for it? Only the OKW 1 BR is available on the discount code that we're currently on -- we could switch to that for about $400 extra than our current YC ressie. Should we? We really like the YC's location though -- so location vs the convenience of a 1 BR??? Any tips? Thanks!

It is not pointless and I would go ahead and waitlist, but your chances are MUCH better if you are willing to take ANY DVC resort not just BW or BC. I got a Christmas waitlist a few years ago at OKW.

I would go ahead and waitlist too. I have always gotten lucky. I agree with the "waitlist for all the resorts" comment. You have nothing to lose by being on the waitlist and you might actually get it :)

Hey, there, JavaJ, I'm on the waitlist for any studio for 12/27 thru 12/30. I currently have a reservation for a 1-bedroom at OKW. I would definitely give up my 1-bedroom if a studio became available. So you see, there is always hope. :thumbsup2

We have waitlisted for HHI several times, this year included, and have gotten it every time! Just found out about Thanksgiving in HHI a few weeks ago, so I would say nothing to lose and everything to gain!! Good Luck!

Thanks from a newbie! I called Member Services and they put me on the waitlist!
