I'm seeing more and more discussions about people staying at DVC for extended periods after retirement, and most if not all of those discussions are for winter stays.
Right now the point values are lowest in the winter but does anyone forsee a change to that if retirees really DO start spending Jan/Feb at their DVC?

I hope not even though I don't plan on retiring very soon!!

Retirees have been going to Florida during the winter months for many many years so If they were that concerned about it they would of priced that into the point value already. But then again you never know. 2007 VB points for the peak season was in March-april but this year they were in Feb.

I think having low value points "off" season when the park are less crowded helps fill the parks up for Disney. Many will tell you that Dec is the hardest time to book and that is suppose to be a slow season. For many with families, its really out of the question to take the kids out of school during those times so I'm sure Disney loves retirees!!

I really think the amount of DVC retirees staying the winter is really a drop in the bucket and won't have any impact on point values. It would be nice :cloud9: , but I don't know how many people will really have the points to do it. If I'm wrong about that and they do raise point values in the winter, at least that means they'll be lower in the spring, or summer or fall :goodvibes

IMO DVC is past due on a reallocation that will likely raise points per night for December. I think it's inevitable that we'll see a reallocation in the next few years though I doubt it'll be dramatic. The one and only change before represented a 15% increase in adventure season with modest decreased to balance other times. I think the next will be similar but likely about 10%.
